I could be wrong, but I don't think these NIL deals are all about financial ROI. A certain percentage, maybe a high percentage, are about paying recruits to sign with a program. Sure some will be busts, some will transfer, but like they (used to) say, "If you ain't cheatin', you ain't tryin' ". With NIL, you don't even have to cheat, but there definitely seems to be some price inflation for buying players.
100%. People thinking these are all "business deals" are cute. @Glitch makes a really good point too about the benefits for the bagmen.
 
I’m in Nashville for a wedding today. Hotel is in the West End so walked around a bit this morning. It’s incredible. Didn’t think I would ever say this but you can feel the electricity ahead of the coaching debut for Vanderbilt today. There were dozens of fans out tailgating.

Half or more were probably ETSU fans.
