I don't know how you "know" that. The Spring game? Hooker was being reported as the most consistent passer of the group in the Spring and early in Fall camp as well. He isn't a WR playing QB like this is Kentucky.
I don't know that for a fact, but all I can go by is what I have seen. I think we need to stop trusting practice reports. None of those guys had even mentioned Ollie Lane. Remember when Elijah Simmons was terrible?

I'm with you but hell based on the practice videos we got I had Bailey 1, Maurer 2, Milton 3, Hooker 4. But what do I know.

On another note, not only could Milton not read the field, throw the ball with touch, or throw the ball accurately, he didn't seem that mobile to me. Pretty confident HB can do just as much with his legs as Milton can.
Well if you had Maurer 2nd...😁

Dooley first game attendance: 99,123
Jones first game attendance: 97,169
Pruitt first game attendance: 100,074
Heupel first game attendance: 84,314

Not a negative on Heupel, but probably more a reflection of COVID concern and fan dissonance.
More an indictment on a Thursday and longevity of disappointment.

My biggest concern right now, is that our staff went with Milton because of the tools, not necessarily because he is the best QB.

If that is the case, and he struggles next week, I hope that Heup will pull him and give HB a shot.

Other than a cannon of an arm, what tools does Joe possess?

Again, what's the downside? Defender has his back to him. If it's 50/50, then that's 50% a TD and 40 whatever yd play and 50% incompletion. That sounds great.

We got away with it because it was a lesser opponent. What's the downside against BGSU? Not a lot of consequences there, you're right. Against any SEC defense? It's not there.

Here is the reason why so many are disappointed:

WE were hoping for a miracle. A QB that was the answer. A finished product that would be elite and somehow have us skipping the painful rebuild.

But in reality, he is not a finished product and has a long way to go.

So the realization of that is painful and thus the reaction from the fans.

It's all good. This is going to be a fun team to watch and cheer for. Also frustrating. We are not skipping the line here. WE don't have a fast pass (neither Bailey or Hooker get us there any faster).

IIWII (it is what it is)
If CJH can convince Milton to hit the open receiver over the middle for a few plays, get in a rhythm, then go for bank, I would have no problem. Seemed to me that those big throws occurred mostly on the first play of the drive and just stalled the fast pace of the offense. When the O was fast to get set, we were hard to stop.

I choose to believe that FB message that was posted days ago saying Milton wasn't the best QB. Wasn't that Dobrucky's uncle or something?
I was told the same thing this morning. Again, no one can be certain about anything, but there seems to be enough smoke around this to at least lend some credence to it.

Also....we are battered down from those 4 previous coaches...

Thursday NIGHT! That's what a place like UT gives up to get the tv time. Not many west of Nashville are coming for Thursday night games unless they just decide to celebrate Labor Day early. Our attendance is based on a state wide fanbase.

Neither of those things really have anything to do with practice reports.

VQ consensus has been that we are thin behind the starting five, and that appears to be true. They speculated how they would handle a starter going down, but that's just speculation. Lane was listed as the backup. They thought they would slide everyone inside and bring Dayne Davis in, but they didn't. Probably because they wanted Cade to keep repping outside and they knew Lane would be OK against BG.

As far as the Simmons thing, there were no reports that said he looked bad out there. In fact, he was getting a lot of praise in the Spring. All the bad mouthing of Simmons started with Rodney Garner... So take that up with him lol.

Based on the fact that any competent coach with FBS talent is going to do exactly what BGSU did to control the pace of the game.
So that's why they ran 88 plays vs Heupel in their last meeting? Cmon. All the facts are against this notion, unless they suddenly changed their offensive philosophy since the last 2 years.

Both teams get the same number of possessions...ball control doesn't change that. Unless you think you're greatly overmatched and need variance ratcheted up to 100, you just play to your optimal style. Playing keep away does no one any good, you still get 1 possession and then they get 1 possession and so on...
