The Official CoronaZoneVirus Thread

It is an interesting subject to ponder. If someone really believes that their life is endangered by unvaccinated people and maskless people, why in the hell would they stay in a state with one of the lowest vaccination rates and that has banned mask mandates? If it were me, I’d get the hell out and move somewhere that I felt safe.
How odd that someone would think that it’s a good idea to sell one’s house, pack up and move, change jobs, change schools, go get new license plates and driver licenses, find a new bank, all because other people won’t mask up.

There seems to be a bit of imbalance there.

Although having a lunatic governor might tilt the scales.

But it seems like YOU are encouraging the Balkanization of the US with this “love it or leave it” suggestion.

I have no issue if a core doctrine of your religion is anti-vaccination. If that's your belief, then that's your belief. I have an issue if you are lying. Problem is, its not too easy to tell who has these beliefs and who is making it up.

I didn't say what my beliefs were, you're contradicting yourself and this is why I posted the "dis gone be good" bear gif.

Too many feelers involved in this subject and @95 Vol Alum for the most part keeps his mouth shut. Unlike a bunch of the rest of us. Myself at the top .....well, close to the top of that list.

Here’s this about masks, from February of this year, discussing different European countries’ policies on masks. It’s from the British Medical Journal and is more comprehensible than most:
Covid-19: Are cloth masks still effective? And other questions answered

Here’s another one, also from February, that involves considerably heavier slogging, in the Journal of the American Medical Association (JAMA):
Effectiveness of Mask Wearing to Control Community Spread of SARS-CoV-2
This one has a nice table halfway down showing results of studies of mask effectiveness.

Three-layer cloth masks (cloth outside, cloth inside, with non-woven filter material) approaches the efficiency of surgical masks (the blue paper rectangles). I hate the 3-layer guys, finding them hot and heavy. (Just me.) N95’s are the most efficient, but only when they are fit-tested, as they are for hospital workers - no gaps around the face. Bandannas and other single-layer cloth “masks” might keep out dust on the cattle trails, but not so much for tiny virus particles.

I wear the blue paper surgical masks, now that they can be bought in stores. Medical personnel have worn them for years for surgeries and other invasive procedures. (They save N95’s for seriously spooky things, like TB patients.) Does anyone seriously believe that they would wear them if they didn’t help protect against disease?

Anyway, whatever. Stay safe and go Vols.
primarily wear blue surguical masks, but have used n95 and other.
never use cloth except over surgical -- have cloth masks that varry logos, etc of certain rock groups i love

I thought about doing that (cloth over surgical) but decided that it would have more complexity than I want to deal with these days. I would add an eye roll, but I’m mostly serious. I consider it a triumph that I still haven’t locked myself out of my car in two years.

we are already there. It doesn’t matter what I think. It’s the reality of the situation. If it’s really life or death, you just gonna sit there and die because you think you have the moral high ground?

What? “Moral high ground”? WTF? You think that’s what this is? Are we now so divided that we don’t even understand what bothers those different from us?

i still cant believe ive never lost my flip phone
when i worked,it was a good day if i could find my car keys in under 5 minutes

My advice, seriously given, is that your family should move to Oregon or someplace else that will comport to your wife’s expectations of others. I know that’s extreme but I think she’d be happier, which would make you happier. I don’t have to tell anyone that this country is Balkanized. It’s unreasonable to expect blue state policies in a red state.
i would love to move to oregon, but just not portland
can't even get her to move to stl, where our 3 grandchildren
believe she wants to die in alabama
we moved back here from thecarolinas in 1982

The one good thing about carrying a purse:

Carabiner + keys. I’ve lost everything else that I tote around, but if I can hang on to the purse, I’ve got the keys.
