Coronavirus (No politics)

Do you know why the team isn’t fully vaccinated yet?
Hype's answer kinda worries me the vax rate isn't terribly high. Sounded a bit like Auburn's AD response.

Maybe even 70 or 80% might be enough to keep us from serious spread issues. Hopefully we at least get somewhere around there.

Vaccine isn't preventing people from testing positive for covid or spreading it now that we're pretty much only seeing delta at this point, which are the only two things that matter as far as sports go. It prevents bad symptoms and hospitalizations, but these kids aren't at risk for that anyway.

So Vax rate won't help players avoid covid protocol, at least that's how several of my medically inclined acquaintances have explained it to me.

I've read it's still 60-70% effective for even getting it.

But I digress, if it prevents symptoms, even that could be enough...or at least help.

Vaxxed players will only have to be tested if they have symptoms.

Really? That's not how other leagues or the Olympics handled it. If so, that would help for sure. Very rarely do young vaxxed people get any symptoms, but they test positive for it (different than "having" it, since it just has to be present in your nasal cavity, even if your body is easily killing it) often it seems.

KY hospitals I work for have a heavy volume of COVID patients in the ICU right now, and about 91% are not vaccinated.

I’m a year and 3 months post Covid. Just had antibody test and still show strong. The SEC and others need to allow covid recovery and active antibodies into the numbers count toward total covered as far as team activities, games, etc go

I am in the National Guard. I have antibodies. I will still be stuck with a needle irregardless.

Same here. Mine go back to 17 months ago. They need to stop the attorneys from ruining the world

Pretty sure the SEC has said that once you reach the 85% threshold of vaccinations, then the players will not be regularly tested. We can argue all day about the vaccine, but no one should be tested if vaccinated, and I really don’t want my team to possibly have to forfeit a game.

I know someone personally that is 1 year out from it and just had the test and still has antibodies too. I will probably get one too at some point. I'm about 8 months out.
