Coronavirus (No politics)

Funny how schools can require and enforce dress codes but requiring a piece of fabric on a child’s face is just too far.

I mean just imagine those poor children practicing active shooter drills with a mask on?!?

Thank goodness Gov Lee was brave enough to take a stand against this trauma forced upon the children.

Mask mandates for children is not only stupid, but immoral and brings lots of consequences. They are not in danger from this virus. If you never required masks for flu in schools, it makes no sense to want masks for a less threatening virus.

I think there’s room for debate as far as the risk/reward of masking kids to some degree. But what exactly is immoral about it or creates a consequence?

The science behind masking children is certainly debatable, but I don't get the argument that it's immoral. That seems like a reach to me unless you're talking about one off cases, an example being kids with autism or something of that nature. Exceptions should obviously be made in those cases.

Immoral? Children not in danger from COVID? Dang, any more bad takes you want to share?

I agree that it was their choice, made their own beds, etc… but when they start filling up the hospitals that puts and undue strain on the system that effects nonCOVID patients as well. My wife’s hospital has already canceled electives again.
They shouldn't cancel electives. It is a knee jerk over cautious move for most places. Hospitals up here never got close, and never will get close to being "under strain"...and yet they sat there empty..doing nothing..it was and is ridiculous to do it as a blanket response.

Plus..if it's an elective, most of the time it can wait a lil bit till this burns out.

it's like the farmer in Catch-22 who got rich from being paid by the government to not grow crops and everyone thought him wise because he was rich.

It might be a bad take on my part, but I’m not getting anywhere near a hospital for anything that’s not life threatening. Hospitals are where sick folks with all their germs congregate - hard pass for me.

Agree 100%. It’s an absolute cluster at all 3 local hospitals here right now. Thankfully, our 7 day average dropped today for the first time in almost 30 days so hopefully we’re seeing a peak.

We don't know the long term affects of the vaccine. Data isn't out yet.

I'm young and healthy, have natural immunity, and a 99.98% chance of survival if not higher. I'm just fine. Those around me are free to get vaccinated so, in reality, they are not my responsibility. If the vaccine keeps them safe, whether or not I get it doesn't matter.

Any long term side effects from vaccines present within 6 weeks to 2 months after receiving a vaccine.

99.98% chance of surviving the virus? Did you get that number from your doctor or google or did some fairy from Neverland tell you that?

Gov. Lee just singed an EO authorizing parents to exempt their students K-12 from any local school board's mask mandate. Exec order 84

As previously stated, I don't have kids so this does not affect me directly. Just thought it was interesting.

Bill Lee is one of the dumbest mf'ers out there. He's is right up there with Desantes and Abbott. Abbott and Desantes are the same moronic governors who want to ban mask mandates meanwhile they're begging the federal government for nurses and equipment. Nobody wants to come help your Covid cesspool of a state that you aided in creating with your negligence.

Young enough that the flu is more of a threat for them than this virus

I suppose when Children's hospital fills up with sick and dying children you'll still be telling yourself they're not at risk and the flu is still worse than Covid, right?

From what I see in the Telegraph, I’d be more worried about stray bullets than germs if I was in Macon. I also hope that the delta variant quickly abates as it did in the UK. I’m guessing that will be the case since I’m already hearing people talk about the lambda variant.

That’s per accurate. I have two friends who have ended up in the ER in the past week. Both of them ended up waiting for 5+ hours and being treated in the hallway while Covid patients and gunshot victims rolled past.

I go to hospitals and clinics everyday...but that is my job.

He is definitely an extremist, but so are you.

I plan to be there for the beer festival. When I made those plans, I assumed it would be in Tattnall Park and I could walk to the game. Then I find out it's downtown near where all those people have been getting shot up. Not sure what I'll do now. I also plan to be there for homecoming. of course, all travel plans are subject to no covid surges.

I think that if he was an extremist, he would have called a special session and forced the state senate to vote yes/no on vouchers, which would have made several moderates vulnerable in primaries next year. This was probably his idea of giving each side a partial victory. School boards can have mandates, parents can opt out, and the legislature stays home until January. JMO
