I called my local Walgreens, they are saying as long as it’s been over 28 days since your second dose, just come in, no appointment necessary.
That's pretty much what I did but with CVS. I called ahead and asked if they had Moderna and accept walk-ins. Yes. Drove over and got my booster.
This thing is just gonna keep mutating. What worked was distancing and hygiene. People acted like a rapidly developed vaccine was a license to ignore those practices and quickly spread it back around. Everyone spreads it. The next mutation may well be completely resistant to the vaccine. If people really want this virus to go away, stay home as much as you can.
This unfortunately is possible. The next iteration of the virus is the Lamda variant. So far it does not greatly reduce efficacy in the current vaccines. The good thing about the mRNA vaccines is that they can quickly plug and play new variants into new shots. The full turnaround time is roughly 6 weeks. Both Pfizer and Moderna could create a new targeted vaccine within 6 weeks.
