How is it irresponsible? It’s basic statistics. Approximately 57% of the U.S. is vaccinated, yet only 7% of Covid patients here are vaccinated. What’s their age range and do they have co-morbidities? It’s irresponsible to only put out one piece of the puzzle.
Actually talked to a nurse last night that works in that very hospital. Her exact words were, "The patients are younger and otherwise healthier than they ever were during the last spike."What’s their age range and do they have co-morbidities? It’s irresponsible to only put out one piece of the puzzle.
I would wager the percentage of un-vaxxed is slanted more towards folks without co-morbidities verses the group that chose to be vaxxed. Only makes sense that the folks who felt most vulnerable to Covid would be more willing to try the vaccines. Therefore in any comparison of ill folks of a decently large sample size, the vaxxed numbers probably were older and less healthy folks. How is it irresponsible? It’s basic statistics. Whether or not any of these people have co-morbidities really doesn’t matter in this case, unless your suggesting that the % of vaccinated people with co-morbidities differs vastly from the overall U.S. vaccinated %.
For example if we’re saying that all people in this chart have co-morbidities and the overall vaccination rate among people with co-morbidities is 7%, then it would mean the vaccine is ineffective since our percentages would be the same. In reality, the rate among people with co-morbidities is likely much higher than 57% in the U.S. If we assume all the people hospitalized here had a co-morbidity, then that would speak more to the vaccine effectiveness not less like your suggesting.
Maybe, but there are lots of people with co-morbidities that have been told by their doctors not to take the vaccine as well. I know a woman that can’t take the vaccine because of her health issues. She’s screwed either way.I would wager the percentage of un-vaxxed is slanted more towards folks without co-morbidities verses the group that chose to be vaxxed. I’m sure your right, but I would bet your type of example is a statistical anomaly when looking at a large sample size. Looking at averages, generally less healthy folks would have been more willing to take the vaccines. Most antivaxxers appear to believe they either already have a natural immunity or they are so strong / healthy that they would quickly recover if infected.Maybe, but there are lots of people with co-morbidities that have been told by their doctors not to take the vaccine as well. Yes, but there are many that run just as great a risk from the shot as they do from the virus. This woman’s husband is a diabetic and was able to get it, but she has severe allergies on top of diabetes and was told the shot could be fatal for her. The vaccines are not for everyone and the people pointing fingers at the unvaccinated need to shut up.Having comorbidities was inclusion criteria early on in getting access to vaccination.
Surely you understand that there will always be outliers like the example you’ve shared. But these outliers will be something under 1% of the populous. When folks are trying to encourage the unvaxxed, it should be understood they don’t mean rare cases like your example. Obviously, your friend isn’t going to a college game nor a concert until this virus runs it’s course. The vaccines are not for everyone and the people pointing fingers at the unvaccinated need to shut up.
The percentage of people that truly can’t the vaccine (whether they want it or not) is significantly smaller than the percentage of those that simply don’t want/believe in/feel like they don’t need the vaccine. For that crowd, I believe the line goes “F*** Your Feelings”.Yes, but there are many that run just as great a risk from the shot as they do from the virus. The best thing people around her can do is get the vaccine.Yes, but there are many that run just as great a risk from the shot as they do from the virus. Yeah, you don’t know if that’s true or what the actual percentage of people is that are told by their doctors to not get the vaccine. All the info keeps changing. One week Pfizer had the best vaccine, then J&J showed the most promise against the Delta variant, and today Moderna is the most effective. I realize data can get updated, but there is a lot of crap being put out under the guise of being the truth. I hope the vaccines do work with minimal side effects, because this virus is not going away and we are going to need vaccines that work. The percentage of people that truly can’t the vaccine (whether they want it or not) is significantly smaller than the percentage of those that simply don’t want/believe in/feel like they don’t need the vaccine. Yes, you are right, but the chances of getting Covid when vaccinated are reduced. But the vaccinated can still give her the virus. This thing sucks. At the end of the day we should all be asking our “leaders” how they plan on holding China accountable for this.
I get what point you were trying to make, but the pancreas has endocrine and exocrine function, so your statement its factually wrong. Teenagers are diagnosed all the time without family history of DM1, although its certainly not out of the realm of possibility for this to be Covid related as it is autoimmune mediated. To say with certainty that this was definitely coronavirus related, I dont think would be correct. We are familiar with 2 teens under 18 who contracted the virus. A couple months later they're suddenly type 1 diabetics with no family history of type 1 diabetes. The virus rendered their pancreas useless.
How COVID-19 Can Lead to Diabetes
I don’t sense that the folks not getting vaxxed are making their choices based mostly on their political party. I sense it more about; “I don’t just follow the crowd”, “I still don’t trust it’s safe”, “I think it wouldn’t really make me very sick if I caught it”, “I think I already had a mild case an therefore have natural immunity “Please put all political feelings aside and get the vaccine.
