If you claim to be a Christian and are not seeking God’s will for your life, you’re no Christian at all. Our purpose, ultimately, is to bring Him glory through service by pointing others to Him. God places people and obstacles before us for His glory, not ours. It is up to us to discern what to do with them. This discernment is learned through prayer and bathing in the Word. The logical gaps in the last several pages are only separated by 12 inches: the distance from the head to the heart.
Paul states that we should take every thought captive. Why? Because we are inherently sinful and undeserving of God’s mercy, for our heart is easily deceived by our eyes. If you learn nothing else, let it be this: Scripture interprets Scripture. In other words, if you impart your ambitions (eisegesis) instead of allowing the Bible to speak as written (exegesis), you’re, at that point, serving yourself above the Lord.
Man has twisted Scripture to fit an agenda since the beginning of time. Even Satan knows Scripture, and he tried to errantly tempt Jesus by misquoting the Word He authored. Speaking truth to power in a loving manner is as Bible-rich as it gets. Did Jesus lie to the attendants of the Sermon on the Mount? No, He detailed many sins that we all struggle with and laid barren the perfect picture of what Christian discipleship looks like.
If the truth was never spoken, hell would be a lot more crowded. Don’t misinterpret a servant heart for judgmental tendencies.
