Gah dam there’s people upset that we have the O line depth to get Spraggins type players that will be 2 year starters. Imagine being able to start fully developed men every year on the LOS instead of throwing even 5* freshman in the fire to get torched half the time.

Masai is a very good young man. He’s polite and coachable. He’s a hard worker and has a great enthusiasm about himself in trying to be great. He loves when a person has the ability to make him a better person. He loves when he has the opportunity to become better.

Masai Reddick is a work in progress.

"Tennessee received a commitment from Detroit Cass Tech offensive lineman Masai Reddick on Friday. He is a player the Vols offered after seeing him at a Mega-Camp then brought him down for an official later in the month.

Scouting Notes:

- We have seen him live several times, in two games during the season and at camps like NCEC, Under Armour Ohio, and Ferris State's Showcase. Each time out, Reddick has gotten better and better. We saw him in camp the previous winter and it was clear he had worked to improve between then and his junior season and then some more between his junior year and these spring and summer camps.

- Reddick is just a hair under 6-foot-5 and now 330 pounds. He is comfortable at right tackle but could also be a guard depending on what they need from him at Tennessee.

- He is good in pass pro. Strong, violent with his hands. He will see some serious speed off the edge in the SEC and has to continue to work on his own quickness and explosiveness, but has done a good job this off-season when facing good comp.

- His improvement over the last year to two is a positive sign as far as his work ethic. He has gone to camps far and wide and never shied away from competition. He is also a smart player who brings good intangibles to Knoxville.

- After seeing him the last couple camps, expect Reddick to go up in the rankings come July's 2022 update.

Bottom Line:
Really good player, one that continues to improve, and one that the Tennessee staff identified as a top target after seeing him in camp. He has a high floor and looks like a good bet to work his way into helping Josh Heupel and his staff win games. Based on his trajectory, we look forward to seeing what his senior year looks like.

A 1042 ranking is indicative of a mediocre power 5 player yes. If they evaluate him and bump him, then I'm all for it. But the ranking AND more importantly the offer list is pretty underwhelming. From the looks of it - this isn't the kind of player that is gonna get us where we hope to be any time soon.

The people who blindly boom every commit baffle me. Why even follow recruiting if you're just gonna jizz yourself no matter who commits?
