NCAA agrees athletes can make money from their fame

Some have argued that NIL just makes the rich richer but I’m not so sure. It’s going to be harder for Saban to convince a 5 star to come to Bama and sit the bench till their junior year when they could get on the field somewhere else as a freshman and start making money. Those car dealerships in Birmingham aren’t going to sign the 4th string QB no one knows to endorse them. They will want the starter.

We are the rich when it comes to $$$

This is where boosters are going to completely take over. Players will be paid by them to promote whatever the boosters have an interest in. Schools will not be directly involved. This just replaces the McDonalds bags and makes it all legal. It will be like boosters becoming team owners just like NFL.

This will be the end of the college football that we all knew and loved. Sad day
Only thing you’ve ever said that I agree with. I find myself being less and less interested in college sports. And that’s from a fan of 50 years who lived and breathed Vol sports. Very little difference in them and the NFL and NBA now as far as I can tell.

Wonder what an advertisement costs on that screen?

Not sure but hearing LSU went all out, advertising all over the place. Billboards, trucks, videos, letters to recruits, etc. Hearing sponsors for when players sign as well, so expect to see a Kane's hat under the table on signing day. LOL

For the record, my guess is complete chaos.

It will be the death of college sports in my opinion

This would have been more manageable for all involved if the member schools would have slowly given up on their scam over the last 10 years. They were given the information, the money was too good. The member schools killed much of college sports. The taxpayer is going to have to pay for all these administrators, coaches, etc. have been doing for the last 20 years.

The best bet to being able to manage this is... splitting up into much smaller groups. There is no way of managing or enforcing any of this on a large scale. A good portion of the revenue stream will likely be significantly impacted, eventually.

Correct. It will turn college football into the NFL. Which we already have. And already sucks plenty enough as it is.

Then the money will get screwed up. Schools will shut down other sports to compensate. Players will hawk products all the time. Kids working a job on the side will have to block or hustle for teammates who make 25k a week. Players will get big paydays and then transfer to another school because their booster offered them additional money to transfer. That's just the tip of the iceberg.

The talking heads flapping their mouths about how nothing will change and it will be better are fools. They couldn't care less if the experience is hollowed out and sold for scrap. Makes no difference to them.

"All three divisions are still committed to avoiding pay-for-play and improper inducements tied to choosing to attend a specific school. The NCAA announced that those rules will remain in effect."

iu

They just made it easier to get away with it.
They made a legal way for rich boosters to deduct payments to players as advertising expense.

It could actually get worse than that, I have said for some time if the players truly understand their value they could play real hard ball.

Teams walk out to play the 1st game of the year... all the team players (for all the schools) refuse to hike the ball. Basically, a walk out in the middle of all the TV broadcast.

Don’t forget you will see alot of political crap coming into it too with this being shoved down our throats. These players will have such huge heads and agendas from this it’s going to destroy it all in the end. The cat is out of the bag now and they won’t be able to put it back in. RIP college sports
