Who's going to play DE? Honestly, I'm a little confused as to where guys are going to be lined up. Young, Baron, Eason, and Mohan are listed as Edge rushers. Middleton, Solomon, Butler, Blakely, Bumphus, Tremblay, Garland, Thomas, Simmons, Terry, Bailey, and McNeil are listed as our DL. So in a 4 man front, who is playing where?
Mohan won’t be edge…more the Star or flex olb. Baron, Eason and Mohan will duke it out for rush DE when we’re in the normal set. I suspect that Banks would like to eventually transition to a 3-3-5 and that opens up a lot of flexibility. At present, in non passing situations, strongside DE would be Butler, Blakeley, Bumphus Middleton (if here) with all of them available to shift inside on passing downs. Didn’t expect McNeil to play this year and still don’t

The legacy class… I’ve never been so excited about a class. What could’ve been… I’m still waiting for Dylan Bates to show us what all the hype was about lol. I was so excited when we signed him. I remember exactly where I was when he committed. I read it on VN while I was in cocoa beach
Poor guys girl got knocked up by Vic Wharton and ran off with him. Never recovered

I remember in 2017 thinking Greg Emerson, Andre Litaker, and Brent Lawson we’re gonna be in state lineman we built a defense around.

Good times.
Kind of a perfect illustration as to why I barely follow recruiting. So much time in so many threads and even the dudes who come here rarely shine. Gimme game day

NCAA/SEC, whichever mandated the 25 limit needs to rethink that move IMO. Should there even be a cap on how many you sign each year? Why is the 85 team cap not enough?
It has nothing to do with numbers----it's all about the dollars. Every decision, in college sports, is about dollars.

part of being a head coach is recruiting & selling program. who else's job is it? i'm not saying fahr him. But its certainly warrants mentioning as a topic of discussion. part of assuming that responsibility is recruiting currents players.
It is a stupid topic of discussion for one reason..if Rodney Garner can't get these fat lazy bums to want to play and practice hard..then nobody worth a **** can.

Screw em.

Following recruiting is beyond stupid…. But I just can’t quit.

Kind of had the same problem when I was a die hard NFL fan. I’d spend months reading mock drafts and then scouting reports on 6th and 7th rounders and convince myself undrafted free agents we’re gonna a be diamonds in the rough.

Equally a huge waste of time

Yes. It's not as fun as it used to be with players leaving continuously. I don't even want to think about the roster now until August. Why bother.

Two recent examples of

(A) how dumb I am

And

(2) how foolish it is to follow recruiting

Brant Lawless and Kendrell Scurry

Two former Tennessee commitments who I just knew we’re going to be absolute studs. Scurry committed his junior year and I would’ve sworn he was gonna be close to a 5 star by signing day.

Lawless was huge but ridiculously athletic for his size. Pegged him as the best of the instate DL trio and someone who would shine at UT.

Boomed big time with them.

Of course both never played. BL was at UNC last I recall and Scurry just fell off the face of the earth. Went to JUCO and disappeared

@Glitch and all you other dads.

Whoever wins the MSU -Texas game should absolutely insist that the entire Vandy team get tested if the NCAA is concerned about positive tests in vaccinated asymptomatic players.
Why get vaccinated if you still get tested and pulled from competition for a positive test??? It’s asinine!

Structural issues at Neyland? We don’t need the stadium deemed “unsafe” before the season and be closed like the Mississippi River bridge in Memphis!

Just stuff that needs to be fixed and/or replaced. Close the stadium and lose all that money? Never.

The nicer upgrades are at least a season away and are phased. Some were approved this year for the 2022 season. Most of the fan experience upgrades are further out.
