We are very close in age then.

I accepted a friend request the other day from a kid that was my "best friend" through elementary school. He lived down the street so we rode bikes, fished, and caused trouble through our early years. He moved away but I've thought about the fun we had and all the memories through the years. Then - BAM - 25 years later he pops up on facebook and we're sharing those memories and good times. Very cool.

the worst thing for me has been students requesting to be my friend. I decline and when im at school they r like mr tapley why didn't you accept my friend request. im like cause im not your friend...

My 7th grader has his english teacher and his science teacher as friends. I think it's awesome!!! I would much rather he knows a teacher is checking his page, then it being just his friends, ya know?

But you have older students right gasouthern?

yah. and I keep as much distance as possible between work and my personal life mainly because im so young. that's one thing they emphasized to us. if I was 15 or 20 years older I would be more inclined to accept requests like that. basically tryin to make sure my tail is covered at all times

I totally get where your coming from. And agree with all of it! His teachers are in their 50's. lol

I had that same problem when I created a myspace account. I had just finished teaching high school and moved away. My former students found me and my friend's list was (is) littered with 16 year old girls and boys. I looked like a pedophile.

My niece teaches high school geometry, and she wont get on facebook or my space.
