Latest Coronavirus - Yikes

I don't think anyone is being an anti vaxer bc of a vaccine that only has emergency use approval. I got it. My daughter will not under emergency use approval. When it has full FDA approval then she will. It's a new vaccine with limited testing. Hell one was created with never before used technology. I understand the hesitancy.
I would venture to guess that you are in a minority and most parents who won't get their child a COVID vaccine even with full FDA approval are the same people who won't get them a polio or MMR vaccine.

Add to all that, people that had covid have legitmate reason to believe they are at least as good, if not better off than the vaccinated.
Someone posted a link to a scientific article which suggests they are as good or better than vaccinated people.

He isnt. 90% of parents I know arent giving their children an EUA vaccine for a virus that killed less than 300 children in the US. But, I mainly live around people with advanced degrees, so what do they know.

The risk to a child is so minimal I don't see the need. But to each their own.

The vast majority in my professional and social circle have zero inclination to get their children vaccinated at this time.

Well, I understand Tyler wants to needle, troll and fight. No worries. But I am legitimately curious about those who are vaccinated but still concerned about infections.
Simple. They aren’t very smart and really aren’t interested in following the science. You’re welcome.

Are these people for real? Like, seriously? You can't possibly tell me that Californians are actually wearing masks while running or riding bikes.
There's been kids in my kids' soccer leagues wearing masks while they play. It's sad, the kids have to be gassed pretty quick. And for what exactly?

I'm not signing up my kids for that ****. Sorry chief. It's experimental, emergency use, and the number of children who've been hospitalized or died from rona is incredibly small. The benefits do not outweigh the risks.

Do people who have been vaccinated against chicken pox fear others who had chicken pox as a child but were never vaccinated?
I sure as hell hope not, or my patients risk varicella infection every day (which, btw has approximately the same mortality in the pediatric population).

Obviously, I get asked these questions every day. My response has been to explain children's statistical risk from CV19 infection, clarification of the EUA process, and an honest description of the length of safety testing and immunity studies, to date. I do not pressure parents in either direction and respect their decision, whichever way they go.

I do tell them that the only opinion I do not respect is that everyone should unequivocally accept long term safety of these vaccines that employ relatively-new technology and have no track record. I've practiced long enough to appreciate (and am not too proud to admit) that Medicine often screws up, and occasionally with catastrophic consequences.

Does anyone on here have a kid at McCallie? I heard some interesting scuttlebutt regarding vaccines, not sure if there's any truth to it or not.

Question for the Lawyers on here -- Is letting vaxed employees go maskless and requiring unvaxed employees to continue wearing a mask a form of discrimination ?

CV19-associated deaths (we all know this is a debatable statistic) in the 0-17 age group have claimed approximately 0.0004% of said demographic in the U.S.

If the perceived risk of vaccination exceeds 4 in a million, hesitancy would be quite understandable.

they may not die but those little bastages will infect us all!
