Cool. I hope it continues to work out. I don’t trust it. Neither does my wife or her uncle. Who is worth about 10 million due to investing in commercial real estate.
I'm guessing his wealth is due more to having a decent amount of starting capital than to his being such a financial genius. People always assume rich people got rich from hard work and/or genius, but I think that's not the case more often than not.

that's interesting.

opening a brokerage acct that allows portion purchases of crypto and selling everytime my investment doubles or triples seems to be working out.

u do u though.

It’s not surprising. Very volatile. Most financial advisors wouldn’t recommend it.

I can agree with that. Just giving my opinion on it. I could be in the wrong end of making a fortune. But I think I am gonna stick with commercial real estate.
My investment in crypto is centered on the idea that eventually one of these will actually be used as currency. I.e. You can actually buy things with it. I could be wrong and the US government could make sure that never happens.

Right now they are just hype machines that store value in a volatile way. That may not be sustainable. I think in the next 10 years one of these coins will be used commercially and the rest will go to zero. Dozens of coins aren't going to exist if we ever get to the point of seriously using decentralized currency in transactions.

I’m going to disagree with you. I do believe that people gain their money through hard work and ingenuity. There are generations that benefit from others hard work and genius, but the origins are the same.

My best friend is an infectious disease specialist that wanted to invest 500k into crypto. The financial adviser he goes to said definitively to stay away from all crypto. I would avoid crypto if I were you.
hmm maybe he should find another financial adviser. I know a couple of people personally that has made a lot of money off of it and right now I am not doing too bad. I still cant retire

Ya, that's not what I said. I said most rich people didn't get there by working hard or being smart. I agree that most got there because some ancestor was hard working or smart.

of course not because financial advisors are taking cuts from your stock investment fees and such. They are pissed and jealous at all these gains internet morans have made from crypto lmao

I wouldn’t say they are jealous. But it’s so speculative that it could open themselves up to liability if it fails. If you think about it from their perspective, it’s common sense. Just like a coach playing soneone they trust to make the right plays.

I made fun of my college friends who asked me to chip in 100 for bitcoin back then. Man I'm an idiot.

Maybe our definition of "rich" is different. There are plenty self made wealthy people, but I'd say less than half were from their own making as much as their parents or ancestors.

“Rich” is certainly subjective. But there are a lot of people in that generation who grew up with lower means and made themselves into upper middle class or higher. I guess we can guess on percentages all day, but that is the generation that created wealth with hard work IMO.

Ya I was referring to rich rich people. Not people who made it to upper middle class. No one assumes those people are geniuses and listen to every piece of advice they have to offer like our society does to multi millionaires. Those you're referencing, those who started in a trailer park and have become net worth millionaires through hard work is admirable; but not the kind of rich I was referring to.

Ehhhh I'm skeptical. East of the Mississippi brisket maybe, since it's usually similar to pot roast; but west brisket I'm having a hard time seeing how it could measure up. I'll try it though, won't judge it till I've tried it.
I cook it Texas style. Turned out fantastic. Fat rendered so well it melted in your mouth.
