Mike Farrell

Geez.... Shovel to the face? Fired for a tweet?

What ever happened to allowing people to be idiots without the need for wishing physical violence, or destroying their lives and livelihoods?

Society needs to sit back, relax, and develop a little bit of grace and mercy. We'd be better for it.

Naaahhhh! The "Three Stooges" is finally becoming relevant.

Give him zero attention. Trolls like this are only relevant when we react and give them more attention than they deserve. Unless you are face to face with him, then flame away..... What a loser.

Actually, he rated Trey lower than most and Tennessee fans have been personally attacking him nonstop. I guess it got to him, and he stooped to the TN fans level to let them know he was right after all...but in doing so he failed to think how his response was coming across since it involved an innocent, 3rd party that has gone through a lot of obstacles in his life (Trey). Farrell screwed up by stooping to the same level as the TN fans that have been going after him relentlessly. Of course, now these same TN fans are "taking the high road" in wanting to hold Farrell to a higher standard than they are holding themselves to.

Farrell and a bunch of supposed TN fans are proving themselves to be pathetic in arguing/debating/getting personally involved in 18-22 year old kids playing a sport. Sad.

For one, he was drafted to the NFL, which automatically makes him better than like 98% of the players in that recruiting cycle. Based entirely off that, it seems like a 5th star was absolutely warranted. If you were an analyst, and future you came back in time and told you that recruit xyz would get drafted in the NFL but didn't tell you which round, wouldn't you give that recruit a 5 star rating?

Secondly, seems rather obvious his health is primarily the reason why he fell. Not only because concerns for the future but also because of the development time he missed due to that and being forced to a G position rather than being a T.

Not necessarily since there were 259 players drafted, but only 25-30 5 stars.

I think you missed the point.

If you knew for a fact a HS player would get drafted to the NFL, why wouldn't you give them a 5 star ranking?

Take Andison Coby for example, our lowest rated recruit this year. If people knew he would be drafted to the NFL one day, even in the 6th round, he would be rated as a 5 star prospect, and he'd have a standing offer from every team in the NCAA.

Because it's alot easier to be drafted to the NFL than to be a 5 star, just based on the numbers. 4 star sure, but not 5 star.

Again, you're missing the point. Your recruiting ranking is based on potential only. If you know for a fact someone will be drafted into the NFL, that person should get a 5 star rating.

No your missing the point. It's a lot harder to be a 5 star than to get drafted. Knowing someone is going to get drafted shouldn't guarantee a 5 star rating since there are alot more people drafted than those that get a 5th star.

Yes, totally agree..... The Greg Schiano affair is a perfect example of that in reverse lynching.

He didn’t have to stoop any, this is Farrell’s level. If you’ve followed recruiting you’ve seen plenty of proof of that in the past.

It's not the first beyond stupid tweet he's ever made. His job should come with some ounce of professionalism. He can go get a job somewhere else, it won't destroy his life. But hes proven time and time again he's not fit for the job he currently has. I'm all for letting people make mistakes, were human after all. But at a certain point you have to be held accountable for your actions.

You realize you're arguing about a hypothetical situation in which you know the future of only 1 player don't you?

Recruiting rankings are based entirely on potential. If you already know the potential of that player is a future NFL player, then his future is already better than 99% of the players in the class, including roughly half of the 5 stars.

Of course I know that, seems like you don't know what a 5* rating means, so I'll show it to you, straight from Rivals.com:
6.1 Franchise Player: considered one of the elite prospects in the country, generally among the nation's top 30-35 players overall, a potential first-team All American candidate and a player deemed to have first round NFL potential.

6.0-5.8 All American Candidate: considered one of the next-tier elite prospects in the country, generally among the nation’s top 300-325 prospects overall, a national All American candidate and a player deemed to have first to third round NFL potential

A 5* player is expected to be drafted in the first round. Not expected to be drafted, but expected to be drafted in the first round. Obviously not all of them do, but that is the expectation based on potential. If someone told me that a player is GUARANTEED to be drafted in the 6th round, I would say that player is probably a 4*.

He was very average as an OT...excelled at OG.

So, it's the TN fans' fault. Thanks for clarifying that for us.
