Oh people argued it. Otherwise I agree with your analysis.I don't think anyone has argued that the guys lost to OU weren't good players. Johnson too.
I love Chandler and appreciate what he did at UT. But he probably wouldn't be a top 2 back in UT's room now.
JG has always been a great practice player. Maybe it all clicks for him with a change of scenery. I kind of hoped he would have tried that a few years ago. But the smart money says he'll look great in practice then stink it up in games again.
A bunch of guys on this roster were recruited by UF, Bama, UGA, LSU, Clemson, and so on. All the physical ability in the world for the most part. But when you have a guy that mentally is taking out his short comings on you as a player....it is easy to be mentally defeated before you step out on that grass. Heupel seems to get that mental side of the game. This is probably one reason why he is such a great QB mentor.I don't think they were poorly coached in terms of technique or drills. I think it all broke down on the style of play and Pruitt depressing the whole team.
You can almost see this new staff pumping confidence into these kids. Hopefully not confidence in things they cannot do... but rather the things they always could do but were convinced by negative coaching that they couldn't. Heupel seems to get the simple power of "believing" that you can do it.
Are they on our schedule?

Hated to lose Lawrence, but Slaughter had beat him out. He's still here. Slaughter is our NB now. Came in as a safety, then GAME 1 is told To guard Shi Smith, one of the faster slots in the SEC. And he got beat like a drum.
1) WTH Ansley??? You put a true freshman safety on Shi Smith??
2) As the game went on, Slaughter showed he could run with him. Still, had way too much man coverage with no pass rush.
Had Key Lawrence stayed here, he's probably starting opposite of Taylor at CB. I think if Slaughter had transferred to OU he'd be starting at NB the same...
Hell, there's a reason they commanded so much money out of HS. They aren't stiffs. Those kids can actually play. Too bad we won't reap the benefits of our investments.5 guys off a 3-7 UT ball club are projected starters at OU, UNC, and Miami.
OU (Big 12 Champs 2020)
- Gray is already the 3rd down back and looks to be the outright favorite as RB 1
- Lawrence is the projected starter at NB. And already has rep for being one of the stronger guys pound for pound on the team.
- Morris is still recovering from an injury from his time here, but he is the projected starter at LT
UNC- ACC Coastal runner-up
Ty Chandler- projected starter at RB and KR
Miami- 8-4 in 2020
- D Johnson projected starter at EDGE. Battled through a Quaritine protocol to emerge as one starting option at DE.
Wazzu- yeah that guy is starting there now.
So, how is this possible, when we supposedly just weren't very talented???
My point of this thread is to spotlight how you cannot give one ounce of legitimacy towards the Pruitt era, and the record of 2020. He was by a large margin the worst coach in UT history.
Heupel has the following:
Hyatt **** 4.3 -40
Wideman ****
Calloway **** 4.4
Keyton ****
Merrill **** 4.4
Holliday- 4.3
Jones- 4.3 proven playmaker
Coby and Tillman have ability too.
RB
Better overall than last year believe it or not.
Look man, Mizzou, UK, USCE, Pitt, Tech,
S-Bama, Vandy, are not more talented than us.
Look at the beginning of this post to remind you how we really don't know what's on our roster.
We HAD 3 guys that just transferred to a Playoff team and are projected starterS
Those three guys only needed a spring to be uncoached enough to start for OU@LittleVol
It will likely take more than one offseason to reverse some of the "coaching" this team has received the past three years and to reverse the culture from the lying, cheating Gump that ran the program...
Talent wise, only Bama, UF, and UGA are more talented on our schedule.
They may be starters and that is great but when you enter the portal, I am pretty sure you look for teams you can start for or weak at your position. The ones listed above when to schools that they lost key players at those positions and did not feel they filled it yet with recruits. Anyone could transfer to OU ansd start on that crappy defense and if he does not start that ought ti tell you something. I would not get to enamored with them starting just yet see where it goes.5 guys off a 3-7 UT ball club are projected starters at OU, UNC, and Miami.

so you are saying that transfers to schools like that have sat the bench? 2nd team or 3rd team? Look at those teams player losses at those positions. Not going to argue with anyone but the only one that is a loss is Gray and if the juco guy is half as good as some say, may not miss him much. Hopefully our backs this year can block on pass plays cause gray could miss his shadow. Actually his blocking resembles Morris alot, alot of oleSo anyone can just come in and play at Oklahoma or Clemson, Ohio State just because they are thin at the position?
