Yeah I don't think it's reasonable for a cop to shoot a person that has disarmed themselves and has their hands raised. Maybe I'm just old school....Are you suggesting it wasnt a good shoot by officers? They knew he had the gun and saw it and the kid pulled it out of his pocket and lifted his hand towards the officer after throwing it to the ground...
I said it wasn't the norm which is what you said, and no 25-50 "questionable" incidents out of a few hundred shootings involving police out of 4 million police encounters with citizens isn't the norm or statistically even a big deal. It's like saying bee stings that result in death need to be a concern, and there are a lot more people who die of that than from police "misconduct".It's ok, @Rickyvol77 says this doesn't happen enough for us to be concerned.
You said yourself that the kid threw the gun in the alleyway and you can see it from 2 separate angles. Are you suggesting it wasnt a good shoot by officers? he threw the gun in the alleyway when he lifted his hand...you can see it from two angles
The officer didn't see him disarm himself he had a one second window between when the kid dropped the gun and raised his hand...Yeah I don't think it's reasonable for a cop to shoot a person that has disarmed themselves and has their hands raised. Maybe I'm just old school....
See it on video after the fact while i was looking directly at it after playing it back a few times, one of those camera angles was a security camera from 75 yards behind the fence line. You said yourself that the kid threw the gun in the alleyway and you can see it from 2 separate angles.
In the video the cop tells him to put his hands up and the kid complies. Then the cop empties the clip. Are you suggesting that the kid obeyed the cop's orders too much and thus deserved to be murdered?
So you, me, and anyone else who's watched the video are able to see the kid throw what's presumably a gun to the ground before raising his hands (which the cop told him to do) yet the cop who's 10 feet away from the kid and who's body cam footage we're watching isn't able to see that? Right....See it on video after the fact while i was looking directly at it after playing it back a few times, one of those camera angles was a security camera from 75 yards behind the fence line.
The officer had neither angle to look at in real time in the dark while running after an armed criminal..the kid didn't comply the officer saw him make the movement from his pocket removing something (Which correctly turned out to be the gun). If you think this is a "murder" too, you don't understand the law
True.... but is it necessary to fling an 80lb old lady on the ground like that and then hammer lock her arm like that?Lotsa wrong here. Then again, people generally don’t have a piece of paper pinned to their shirt that warns of any underlying issues (drugs, EDP, dementia, etc.), so...
Anybody else here ever paid for a box of tampons (yes, tampons) to avoid making an arrest?
So what was the point in pursuing the kid then? Why not just shoot on sight or as they're running away? Why wait for the kid to do disarm and raise his hands? The officer didn't see him disarm himself he had a one second window between when the kid dropped the gun and raised his hand...
I don't think its reasonable for a 13 year old wannabe gang member to carry a gun and run from police but hey, maybe I am old school
What was the point of pursuing an armed gang member who was with another gang member who just shot at someone? is that a serious question? So what was the point in pursuing the kid then? Why not just shoot on sight or as they're running away? Why wait for the kid to do disarm and raise his hands?
Can you make sense of that without excusing the blatantly obvious incompetence?
Fakeevillawyer is hilariously naïveSo you, me, and anyone else who's watched the video are able to see the kid throw what's presumably a gun to the ground before raising his hands (which the cop told him to do) yet the cop who's 10 feet away from the kid and who's body cam footage we're watching isn't able to see that? It looks like this cop decided to be judge, jury, and executioner. Even when complying with his commands, the 13 year old kid deserved to die.
I'd like to say I'm surprised you're condoning this, but this is right on par for you. Gestapo tactics like this are unacceptable.
So you are saying it is indeed blatant incompetence and a wrongful death. What was the point of pursuing an armed gang member who was with another gang member who just shot at someone? is that a serious question?
You don't have to "shoot on sight", he knew the kid was armed with a firearm and thought he was bringing the gun up to shoot at him.
The kid was concealing a weapon behind his body in view of the officer, it disappears behind his back and in a few frames, maybe a second at most it reappears. He had a split second to make a decision, a decision that could mean he never did to see how family again with a subject who has refused to comply to that point. You are looking at a freeze frame and have the advantage of processing it in a safe place with no threat to you. This wasn't a bad shooting, tragic yes, but the officer did nothing criminal here. It's clear that the officer mistook the kid's surrendering as a threat, and you seem to agree that's what happened. That is not an acceptable excuse. This is an example of blatant incompetence.
The officer didn't see him disarm himself he had a one second window between when the kid dropped the gun and raised his hand...

Nah, I'm just saying that confirmation of a weapon should be high on the list of boxes to check when a cop starts blastin. So he should wait until being shot at to shoot back? That's essentially what your advocating for. He saw the hand come up, the same hand that was attempting to conceal a weapon a second at most earlier.
Tragic but not criminal. .
The weapon had been confirmed
