President Joe Biden - Kamala Harris Administration

These illegals take do they not if they dont pay taxes as you said? They drive on the same roads, go to the schools, etc.,,,No skin in the game and why we are where we are.
I disagree they don't have skin in the game. They purchase gasoline, groceries, and rent residences.

They contribute to taxes paid. They have skin because they want to succeed here.

I am not disagreeing with the "ugliness" of it. Walls dont work on their own, but at least curtail.
There are certainly more "disheartening" issues in our moment of history.
Let's think about what ugly measures need to be incorporated. We need agents or sentries patrolling the wall. How many per linear mile are required? Do these agents need electricity, food, running water, sanitation? What about vehicles? Gasoline?

Idk if sending everyone back is the best long term. But I agree political and diplomatic solutions are better than barriers.
If we are the first safe country they step foot on and declare asylum then fine. Problem is you can’t get to us unless by boat, plane, Canada, or Mexico. So there’s no valid case to walk all the way here and declare asylum. Send their asses back. Fly them via military transport to their country of origin.

And FFS end birthright citizenship!

It's disheartening how many think the wall is a good idea, or part of a multi stage approach curtailing illegal immigration. The cost alone should make everyone do a double take.

Agreed, it would be much cheaper and effective to make hiring, leasing to or harboring an illegal an offense that leads to prison.

I saw a high approval rating for expanding Amtrak, but the surveys never include projected fares. For example, high speed rail linking Chattanooga to Atlanta has come up many times over the years. I'd bet people are thinking something like a $25 fare for a one-way 90 mile ride, but I'd bet the rate if it ever came to be would be more like $75-100 (if it happened very soon). It's always easy to sucker people when you leave out the costs. The selling point is actually parking, but there are scores of hotels near the Atlanta airport where you can park free for a week or so if you spend a night ... and they have airport shuttles.

Amtrak OKC to Dallas is about $40 making it cheaper than a connecting fight. The problem is the massive amount of stops between here and there and it takes 3-4 hours.

My thinking is they put in a no stop "you're getting on at OKC and we aren't stopping until we hit DFW" kind of ride. I tend to think people might choose that option if it was available and fly out of DFW.

Again, I think they don't really look at the markets they could be tapping into and could make good money if they did it right.

Which they won't...

Then we get to the Nazi/USSR model where people turn in neighbors for a benefit. There are no good answers. If illegals need a SSN to work or lodge, identity theft becomes a problem. Years ago when I worked on hospital insurance auditing, I saw cases where an illegal had an accident and killed or severely injured other people - of course the guy didn't have insurance of any kind which screwed the other people for starters. The real kicker was that TennCare picked up his insurance because TennCare can or at least could be added retroactively. So the citizens here legally got to pick up all the medical costs. Without TennCare the hospital would have swallowed the costs and passed them along. The drunk illegal when he was discharged likely skated and never faced any penalties.

We also have a problem with unemployed people who no longer show up on the unemployment figures - for the convenience of whichever administration is in office at the time. Low unemployment looks good - real unemployment looks far worse. Illegals will work - and do a great job in most cases, but that in turn is another cost to the taxpayer - the network of safety nets that let people be unemployed. If industry could legally hire illegals and kick higher priced labor (particularly union labor) to the curb, we might get a grip on the disaster called globalism, but dems aren't about to let that happen - think $15 min wage and the funny wages paid when the .gov picks up infrastructure (like road) repair or construction. The whole thing just ensures that we are digging ourselves into a bigger hole.

Zep gonna be here to justify this but this Pete "bike ride to work" is pure theater. Gotta love that an SUV took him most of the trip and followed him.

Hooray for the environment!

Clown Show: Buttigieg 'Bikes' To Work After SUVs Drive Him Partway
I already addressed it in a different thread. Here:
Not sure why I am bothering, but here goes:

Original video posted at 3 pm yesterday:

Tim dude posts identical video at 6pm as his own with his commentary:

Not sure this is the "gotcha!" moment you all want it to be. If Tim is right that this is some sort of scandal, why would Pete retweet the same exact video last night?

Anyways, carry on.

Oh, and here: Did Pete Buttigieg Stage a Bike Ride After Riding in SUV? | Snopes.com

Not that it will matter. VN loves some made up bs from Twitter.

Come on Zep, using snopes as an authority is bogus and you know that.

Which is why I gave my view first from what I posted in the infrastructure thread Friday.

Tim stole DJ's video and put his own spin on it like they were making a scoop. Right wing media ate it up. It's ********, but that ain't gonna change anyone's mind about it.

Regardless who posted the video or what their commentary is the fact of the matter is Pete’s bike ride was a staged publicity event.

He’s just as fake as all the other politicians.

He biked from DOT to the WH and then back to DOT. Folks at least need to get the facts right. He wasn't dropped off and then biked a short distance, that is straight up bs. Tim and every other ******* on Twitter that started this is a bold face liar. Crap like this is why I despise Twitter.

He jumped out of a gas guzzler to bike a short distance to show how “green” it was. Terrible idea for a photo op regardless.

No he did not. He biked from his office at DOT to the WH and then back. He did not jump out of any vehicle.

Did his motorcade follow him to the WH? What was his point? Did he use a bike lane? The dude is FOS.
Yeah, his security detail followed him. You know, because of a**holes making death threats against him for years now. Should he not have security when in public? Other politicians do, and I don't see anyone b***ing about them being in public.

Point of fact, many have been called out for their use of security details with guns after calling out guns or cops. Not saying your statement is wrong, just saying.

Have we heard anything on the following?

- how many scoops of ice cream Biden gets
- what he likes on his steak
- what kind of shoes Jill wears when visiting disaster sites

You know the very important things that Democrats worried about.
We know Peter doesn’t use bike lanes during photo ops.

He doesn’t mention taxing bike riders that use the same pavement as motorists. So yeah, he’s FOS.
