As far as campaign Pete is concerned, he supported replacing the gas tax with VMT. Especially since auto manufacturers are moving to phase out gas powered vehicles by 2035.
Yes, you are correct. Which was why campaign Pete wanted to get rid of the gas tax, so the VMT would not be an extra tax.There will still be plenty of gas powered cars by 2035. I would wager the majority of the vehicles on the road will still be.
