I havent followed this team all that closely this year but ive kept up some, watched some and read these boards and what ive gathered through the year is Barnes needed to have a true PG and true big and some 3 point shooters. My question is isnt that like the basic makeup of a basketball team? I mean if your lacking all of those things what exactly do you have? I keep hearing all the time all he can recruit well is wings yet we also cant shoot the 3....isnt that one of the main things wings are supposed to be good at? I just cant really fathom how he has screwed up the basic concept of how to build a competitive team after being a coach for so long? I havent posted here for quite some time because I got tired of being roasted eveytime I had anything negative to say about Barnes or Pruitt but this is just silly. Ive never been one to call for Barnes to be fired but ive just always kind of called it how i saw it which is that he is a decent coach that just cant seem to thrive in the big dance. I compare him to a guy like Bobby Cox, people always drool all over bobby cox for having a long career and a lot of wins, but they just gloss over the part where he had a ton of losses as well and had essentially the best team in baseball with 3 hall of fame pitchers in his starting 5 for 10 years and won one world series by the skin of his teeth. Ive always considered him to be a lucky manager to be with an organization that just didnt expect much and let him ride it out as long as he wanted. Some may not agree with that and thats fine. We all want the same thing and thats for Tennessee to just be successful. Im relatively young so ive only been following sports for about 15 years but man i tell you its just hard to ever be excited for UT teams. they will always be my team but ive already lost almost all my hope and will with this universities athletic teams and im not even 40 years oldTennessee needs to recruit some size and some refs.
That may be so, but I think it would do them wonders to get more experience to develop. It’s a major step from college to the NBA. Both Springer and Johnson seem to not have much a outside game, they’ll need that going forward.I don't disagree that they aren't ready to step in and be really good on day one, but the NBA drafts on potential. They see a lot of it in Springer and Johnson. They gone
this should have been a different game and it would definitely be a different game had Fulky been able to play. He may not bring it on offense every game but he makes a difference down low. Shame he was taken out.The worst thing about this loss is that we let their Pillsbury dough boy post player have a career game.
