Rick Barnes discussion [merged]

A few coaching adjustments along the Way might have helped this season. Barnes teams are easy for opposing coaches to prepare for. He basically plays one way on defense ( man to man, never zone) and our offense is a boring pass the ball around the perimeter and Jack up a bad shot with 3 seconds on the shot clock. I hate to continue saying it but the game has passed Barnes by due to his stubbornness.
You should seek therapy

Hardly anyone plays zone defense anymore because of all these coaches and teams that have fallen in love with the three. You have to be able to man up in today’s game.

Then why does zone seem to give so many teams fits. Zone takes away a lot of the advantage of motion and screens.

A zone doesn’t give fits to any team that shoots the three well.

I understand it can be useful at times and can be used as something to mix it up. But the general rule is that you play man to man when you have the better athletes. You play zone when you can’t match up athletically or if you have a disadvantage inside the paint.

Calipari never plays zone, Pearl almost always never plays zone, Jay Wright doesn’t play zone, Coach K doesn’t play zone...you get the point.

It’s not a coincidence that Syracuse is falling off the map. Coaches who built their brand on zone are getting left in the dust.

Another blowout. Barnes needs to get it together next year or he needs to be fired.
I'm not a fire Rick guy but this was the knock on him I heard from others. I see some really athletic guys on the roster, seems like we don't play to our strengths all too often.

This year is done though, I hoped we'd see this team improve with getting young guys experience, but it hasn't happened. I guess we'll see what we have next year.

It’s amazing how much he continues to win being so easy to prepare for and having the game pass him by
Lol, WTH has he ever won? The guy has 1 tournament championship on his entire coaching resume. That’s conference, NIT or NCAA. He’s a fraud come March regardless of what School he’s coaching. That’s 1 tournament championship out of 60 tournaments that he has coached his teams in.
