Rick Barnes has not done a good job this year.... Upperclassmen haver underperformed.... Its pretty simple

I can’t speak for Brocktop but I couldn’t care less about his HOF career at Texas cause it sure hasn’t been a HOF 6 years at the real UT. Jerry Green did just as much in 4 years (1sweet 16 1conference title) than Barnes has in 6.

I like the "solid foundation" statement. This whole idea that we are doomed when Barnes leaves is silly. We will be able to hire a good coach and Barnes is one of the many reasons why. He is gonna leave us in a better spot than when he took the job.

TN has fired or pushed out every basketball coach over the last 50 years. Maybe now, with a good one this close to the end of his career, would be a good time to try something different and let him orchestrate the eventual transition.

When did Green have TN ranked #1? When did Green put TN in the SECT finals?

Comparing Green’s 4 years with Barnes ignores the contrast of the dumpster fire that CRB inherited with what KO gifted to Drunkle Jerry.

The same ones bashing Barnes will also be bashing Bruce at anything less than perfection. Personally, I wouldn’t like the hire but as the sitting coach I’d be supportive as long as he doesn’t destroy the program. Which I believe he would manage to pull off.

I’m not concerned that Lying Bruce and his kid will be sitting on TN’s bench. But if that disaster were to happen I’d put on my big boy britches and be supportive. That’s a concept that the bashers can’t comprehend.

I’m not aware of a golfing affiliation. I really couldn’t listen to that program. Worse than nails on a chalkboard. It was awful. Beano is the only one of those 3 that wasn’t a bloviating clown.

It’s laughable anyone would even have this Green vs. Barnes conversation. Either they just have no clue because they were too young or they’re so biased they just won’t allow themselves to look at the real situation.

Barnes deserves some criticism, but some things have developed that really isn't his fault.

I know that it’s difficult for you to keep things in perspective and honest, but there was not a tournament in one of those 5 years and TN’s basketball program was a basket case when Barnes took the job. The actual missed NCAATs were in year #1 and year #2. Suggesting that Green is a better coach is utter stupidity.

Coach K is having a bad season at Duke and Calipari is having a down season at Kentucky so every coach has an occasional bad season.

Coaches that have multiple Final 4’s and/ or National Championships are allowed to slip every now and then. You all act like Barnes has really accomplished something when in fact, other than coaching for 30+ years and winning a bunch of games, his accomplishments are few and far between, especially at Tennessee

No snowflake here. Who in their right mind wouldn't play the market for more money. He could have sat back and made up a big lie as to the whole reason for staying (I know one that probably would have). There is more comes with the price we pay, one big one being integrity. Kind of nice not waking up to headlines of gun charges, drug charges, failed drug test, NCAA violations. OH I forgot, he got hit up for giving money out of his own pocket to an assistant to help supplement the said assistants pay. Don't get me wrong, Bruce made UT basketball exciting, but oh the price the University had to eventually pay. Because of the excitement, I have been a season ticket holder since. Just tired of hearing the same narrative over, and over, and over, and over...............................

Like I said, as far as having a “ great guy” as our coach, we couldn’t have done any better. However, I have been a UT basketball fan for 50 years and it would be nice to see a Final 4, much less a few conference championships or SECT championships from a guy that is the 4 th highest paid coach in the country

I agree but even he went to the max Barnes has (sweet 16). Devoe did. Cuonzo did. Pearl exceeded it. Barnes hasn’t been any better than those guys. Not as good as Pearl.
And certainly not HOF caliber as Tenn head coach.

That’s not what you originally said though. Green inherited a great situation; Barnes did not. Green had the benefit of UConn’s best player being hurt to even get to the SS.

No, they were not hurt, most of them graduated or went pro like Rip Hamilton. They were the defending national champions and they still had their All-American PG, Khalid El-Amin and when Yarborough rose up and dunked on half the team, I knew we were going to beat 'em

The only thing more common than someone bringing up Barnes’ salary (like Isaiah Victor did), are those who keep bringing up the people bringing it up. In your case, you brought it up even when it wasn’t brought up. I guess that is some sort of tactical move??

El-Amin was hurt. He was not 100% playing in that game. Only played 13 minutes.
