It’s repetitive and there is no parity. I used to watch as much CFB as I could get. Now the best players ride the pine on about 4 teams and only play one year before going pro.

Maybe letting the players go pro after their second year would increase the parity and make the season fun again.

I believe the reason the NFL has the 3 year from high school rule in place is to protect the players. Very few, if any, have the discipline or the size to make an NFL roster straight out of high school or one year in college.

Exactly.. A high school player capable of competing and surviving in the NFL is an EXTREME rarity... They just aren't ready at that age.

It's a hard problem to solve. NFL does it with a draft and a salary cap. Bama has no salary cap, and Dooley said it best: "NSD is just like the NFL draft, except Bama gets the first 25 picks".
That could be an easy fix. If you make it to the championship playoffs, you lose 10 scholarships the following year and everyone who finishes outside the top 20 gets an additional 10 scholarships. Parity solved.

NFL sets that requirement...most likely for a good reason. They’ve fought for it all the way to the Supreme Court.

I agree. If we are honest about it we realize CFB changed for good when it became big money oriented with the explosion of games on TV each week. It is basically the minor league equivalent for the NFL. G5 is low and high A. Below that is rookie league/developmental/independent leagues. P5 is AA and AAA. So there is really not much need for the NCAA as it is now. Would be a lot less painful to just go on and develop a method/structure for the transition. Real player comp is going to happen in some form.

MLB is now backfilling more and more with college players. They've reduced the number of minor league affiliates each org can have and are using colleges to develop the talent for easier entry.

It will happen in time in some form or another, I just wish there was a happy medium but at this point it doesn't seem either side is to interested in that because so much money is involved for so many.

It is because NFL franchises don't want to take on the investment risks. This is what they themselves have said, afterall it is their rule. They love everyone proving themselves for 3+ years while being fed and developed, at no cost. But you are right, much of that has to do with the physical nature of the game.

It is simple investment unknowns. Big difference between the certainty of a #1 HS player going to the NBA and #1 HS player going to NFL.

Bingo! Do like the NFL and institute some mechanism for parity. I agree. It is getting silly.

Heupel is going to have to coach up three star guys for a while. We just aren’t as attractive as the big schools yet when we recruit anyone they want even if they are a supposed “lifelong Vol Fan”.

So we're not getting TS. Disappointing, but most didn't think we would get him. Hopeful, but didn't expect it. But we know we have at least one excellent possibility who could be better for us. We'll see.

Why do so many people come here only when seemingly bad news happens? Is their life really so empty that they have nothing better to do?

Honestly, I'd say he made a great decision. Hate to be that guy but even as a Tennessee fan, it'd be hard to turn down Bama
If I’m a lifelong Vol fan and don’t pick UT, for whatever reason, I still could never pick one of UT’s three biggest rivals.
I wouldn’t even visit or listen to overtures from Bama, Florida, or Georgia.
This nation has a lot of great colleges and football programs.
Go to one of them.
Don’t hurt UT.

Serious question to you star experts out there How does a kid that plays 3A football get a 5 star ranking? There is a big difference in 6A and 3A. Also a huge difference in public and private school football. Not bashing the kid , just asking a legitimate question. Thanks for your input

His dad is a known coach. He went to all the camps. That is how. Pay to get ranked.
