Random question: back in the day, my dad and uncle wore the solid olive green fatigues. I still prefer those to cami patterns which to me ought to be specific to situations and deployments.

Anyway, is there a term that military members used for the solid olive green ones besides OG-something?

Sweet!

Military dress uniforms out shine any other formal men's wear (tuxes, etc). I feel like I've felt that way a long, long time, and I dont know how I came to form that impression. A movie I'm guessing. It's the "distinguished" factor.

Step-son wore the sand colored camo, and it made me think of pixels and tetris everytime I saw it.

If we’re thinking about the same uniform, I’ve always heard them called olive drabs.

Our current fatigues uniform is called OCP ACU. Operational Camouflage Pattern, Army Combat Uniform

USAF called them pickle suits. I got to wear them the first 5 years.

The dress uniform the Army is replacing not so much. Black jacket, blue pants, gold accents. We look like airline pilots. The new dress uniform looks essentially exactly like the dress uniform from M*A*S*H. The navy and marines have the best dress uniforms. The Navy all white dress uniform (that Tom Cruise wears in Top Gun not the Donald Duck looking uniform) is my favorite.
