My last set of dress blues, ribbons badges and all, cost me around $600. Take Uncle Sam for whatchu can.@malinoisvol , they actually gave us two new sets of combat uniforms too. I’ve had to buy everything I have since Basic. Well, strike that. I did get uniforms when I deployed. Actual combat uniforms and the ones we wear in garrison are different though you have to know what you’re looking for to spot the differences with your eyeballs. Otherwise, it’s just a fancy fire retardant material.
I just made out with like $800+ dollars of your tax payer money. Thanks gais.
yep. the last dress uniform to change (to that awful one I compared to a airline pilot cost me about $550. I will have to pay to have my combat patch sewed on since they didn’t have my patch hereMy last set of dress blues, ribbons badges and all, cost me around $600. Take Uncle Sam for whatchu can.![]()
Again, back to movies and distinguished, there are worse things to look like than an airline pilot. The dress uniform the Army is replacing not so much. Black jacket, blue pants, gold accents. We look like airline pilots. The new dress uniform looks essentially exactly like the dress uniform from M*A*S*H. The navy and marines have the best dress uniforms. The Navy all white dress uniform (that Tom Cruise wears in Top Gun not the Donald Duck looking uniform) is my favorite.
The Marines are probably number 2. The Marine Band has a red coat instead of the black and it's awesome. The Marines also have a evening (I think that's the term) dress uniform that is white pants instead of the blue with the blood stripe. I know the Marine Drill and Ceremony teams wear the white pants with black jacket a lot. It's sharp too.Again, back to movies and distinguished, there are worse things to look like than an airline pilot. And I would give the marines the top nod.

Olive drabs. That rings a bell.If we’re thinking about the same uniform, I’ve always heard them called olive drabs.
Our current fatigues uniform is called OCP ACU. Operational Camouflage Pattern, Army Combat Uniform
doesn't call them drabs, but if you google olive drabs this is what google producesOlive drabs. That rings a bell.
This was late sixties at Tripler, but I know they both wore them in Vietnam. I don’t think there was a distinction in where you wore them (on post vs in the jungle, etc.)
@VolNExileI wore elastic boot blousers for 20 years. It took three years after retirement for the indentations to leave my calves. Lol

because it's still a thing or because the Army gave us a way to cheat? Tucking your pants into your boots is so uncomfortable.
I LOVE the pink and green!! Those two shades are so perfect together! The Marines are probably number 2. The Marine Band has a red coat instead of the black and it's awesome. I really dig the the Army new pinks and greens. It's funny because retired Sergeant Major of the Army Daily is the one pictured here in our blues. He wore the pinks and greens (what everyone else is wearing in this pic) every chance he got. Random that this is the photo google offered when I looked it up.View attachment 354140
