Something I have to keep reminding myself of when thinking about the 2021 season is that TN hopefully won't be having to hold opponents to 21-24 points to stand any chance of winning because we will be scoring 30+ppg. A potent offense could be the great equalizer for a defense that will probably be trying to find its way; especially early.

This is the guy and he wrestled at Oklahoma A&M.

He is 6’0 and 200 lbs of pure muscle lol

Just about any wrestler has a major advantage in a fight, especially in tight quarters like that, and always when they wrestled in college and have that degree of skill on the mat. If we can just get our hands on you without being pummeled first, you're pretty much F'd... especially if you've never wrestled before...

With that being said, I guess I'm just too old, but I think it's ridiculous how kids fight today... way too much overkill and unnecessary violence that truly hurts someone... there's no need to try and inflict that much hurt/pain/damage, especially when you have already gotten the upper hand on your opponent...99% of the time it is two people settling an issue, not fighting for your life, which is what level most try and take it to... why do kids continue to punch and kick when the other guy is down, hurt, not fighting back, or worse, out cold? In my day if you had to throw hands/scrap, then you did it until someone went down and then it was over. Seems like people now are just trying to truly hurt/damage the other person and that's when laws are broken, arrests are made, and suing ensues, which it should.

To play devil's advocate just a tad..AK wasn't AK until he was in the league. You gotta remember he spent time at Bama and JuCo before we got him, so on tape Gray's first 2 seasons are much better than AK's were (since Kamara was entering his 3rd season in college when arriving at UT).
That can be said of a lot of RBs. That doesn't make them AK.

I don’t disagree about the overkill, but I would assume that punch/elbow number 1 is what broke the guys orbital socket.

Also, from my Dad, “fights are not fair, you Win at all costs outside of killing the guy”

The odds of running into someone who is a trained fighter in these situations has gone up exponentially in the last 20 or 30 years. If you're not trained to fight yourself, probably best just to be nice to everyone.

Some of us are nice, but still, just too old to fight if necessary, so ...

We could really improve this defense by landing that OLB and 1 or 2 of those LB's. Find us a DB and we've made some real strides on that side of the ball just from the portal
As far as CBs go, Dreshun Miller would have been a good one to pursue, but he's apparently leaning Auburn. I'd take Radley-Hiles from Oklahoma. Don't know a lot about the others, but probably at least one in there that could help.

Penn State has Trent Gordon transferring, he was a 3 star outta HS .88 guy.
UCF has two in the portal, both 3 star guys one was a .84 HS guy and the other is a .87 as a Transfer (but is CB'd to FSU)

Here's a few secondary guys I'd be after if I was Portal shopping though other than the ones with direct ties to our new staff listed above.

May have missed the boat with Dixon though, he transferred outta South Carolina in December to head to Penn State if he's enrolled already we've missed our chance

If you can't get any PT in the backfield for OU then i'm not sure he'll be much of a use anywhere else.

Those OU football players getting wrecked is awesome. You can tell those guys are trying not to react and stay calm until they escalate it and push them. You poke the bear, you have deal with the consequences. I don’t care if they rearranged their faces, you picked the fight and that is on you. Those guys just defended themselves. Anyone who thinks they should get in trouble is what is wrong with America today.

I think I heard that TJ Carter is now at TCU.

Then we agree to disagree. I don't see AK in Gray. Gray's a good back, but at times, he gets tackled by the grass. I look forward to what Evans and the other RBs on the roster will bring. Always hate to lose a good player, but Gray's loss stings the least.

Wanya has not been pushed to reach his potential. The question is whether or not Ellarbee could have got it out of him? We'll never know. Both Toot and Key are big losses. Sham staying does not negate the loss of Key.
I don’t understand how you can say Key is such a loss when he barely saw the field and say Sham doesn’t negate it. He didn’t have a single TD pass thrown on him in all of 2019. He was one of the best Nb in the SEC.

There’s too much hindsight judgment these days. We can watch a video 20 times and say “well when he did this then that dude did that” and try to justify anyone’s position. Then it’s the “Well, dude is good at fighting so he shouldn’t fight so hard” nonsense. He’s not a pro boxer or pro MMA guy as far as we know, just an amateur.

Reality is some guy is in my face and puts hands on me in real-time, then I can react and defend myself. Doesn’t matter if I’m better at it than him. I can take it too far, but that’s up to the judge. If the first punch broke a dudes face then sorry. Don’t provoke strangers and you probably won’t get your orbital bone wrecked.

Wanya is seemingly more interested in being recruited to play football, than actually playing football. He doesn't show the self motivation to push himself to get better, regardless of the coaching, and had basically played himself out of a starting job here. He would have been good for depth though I guess.

My question is in regards to how quickly the 3 NLI spots can be reclaimed. Some on here said there's a waiver process to get that spot back, if that's the case, my hope is that we'll hear quickly enough to replace them via portal transfers around spring football. Just like we have guys waiting to see if they're going to move on after spring football, I'm sure other schools will see additional movement then as well.

Sham doesn't negate the loss of Key because Sham is a senior, whereas as Key was a freshman. The fact Key barely saw the field is more an indictment on the old staff IMO. Not gonna be surprised at all if Key balls out at Oklahoma the next few years, and it's gonna hurt to see it.

You act as if Sham returning makes it okay we lost Key. The truth is, it can be good that Sham returns and that losing Key is bad. Like I said, one does not negate the other.

Same argument could be made that Sham bridges us through to Key's replacement as well. Whether that be a young guy on the current roster, or a transfer with multiple years to play. I hated that we lost Key, maybe more than any of the others to be honest. However, it doesn't mean he's not replaceable here, regardless of the career he has at Ok.

Wanya hasn't been properly motivated to reach his potential yet. Obviously, Oklahoma feels their OL coach can get it out of him. Friend never did. The question for us is if Ellarbee could have? I would have loved for him to have gotten that chance.
