'22 TN QB Ty Simpson (Alabama commit)

Possibly right. Maybe he wasn’t a fit for the new staff. I hate it for him because I really wanted to see him carry the rock for us.
Supposedly, even Pruitt and Co. were hesitant about honoring the offer following his SR season. It seems as though the higher level programs that he had offers from soured on him over time, Tennessee included.

Wonder why? He had a really good SR season iirc. Strange. Grades maybe?

Clemson is gearing up to offer another QB

Clemson football: 4-star QB Cade Klubnik might be the next 2022 offer

Simpson hasn’t tipped his hand in any way, shape or form as we progress towards his decision date- Friday, Feb. 26- but something doesn’t quite sit right with us in terms of how he has spoken as of late.
He has remained complimentary of all three schools, but it just seems more and more that Simpson has a desire to stay close to home and to play in the SEC, which doesn’t bode well for Clemson football.

Simpson has talked openly about how much he loves the SEC and it was one of the major questions he asked Trevor Lawrence when he talked to the former Clemson QB.

“It was really cool. I asked him, why did he go to Clemson? Why didn’t he want to stay in the SEC? And how is your walk with Christ there?,” Simpson said in an interview last week.

If Simpson doesn’t choose Clemson football, the Tigers likely have their next guy lined up

The Alabama thing just doesn't make sense to me.

Their QB breakdown for Ty, assuming the most positive case - that Bryce Young goes pro after 2022 and Paul Tyson is garbage (which he is):
2021:
Bryce Young rFR
Jalen Milroe FR
Paul Tyson SO
Ty Simpson HS

2022:
Bryce Young rSO
Jalen Milroe SO
Ty Simpson FR/Paul Tyson JR

2023:
Jalen Milroe rSO
Ty Simpson rFR
Future 5* QB
Paul Tyson (selling insurance in Tuscaloosa)
*New offensive coordinator (recently fired NFL coach)

2024:
Ty is in a race for the QB between Milroe (who Bama loves and will have two years of mop-up duty experience) and a true freshman 5*, and by this point is learning at least his 2nd offensive system, if not his third

If he goes to Bama, I get it, they're on top of the world. But there is a very legitimate chance he won't be the starter until after Joe Biden is out of office.

interesting. and that's assuming BY would leave after his RSO year. he could easily stay for the RJR year and throw it off some more.....

but still hard to predict, it's not inconceivable a guy, or two, could transfer out simply because of what's ahead of the, and who's coming in (Ty)....but i like the way you're thinking none the less.

i wonder what it looks like if you play out the same scenario here? the covid free year kinds of mucks things up for the guys coming back from last year, basically makes them all a RS.

so Baiely is a RS Fr, Maurer a RS Jr for 21....RS So, RS Sr, for 22....assuming both are still here by then. throw Salter in the mix, and he's a Fr in 21, So in 22....Ty a FR in 22....

it gets dicey after that, no way to really know how it all could shake out, who else they recruit, or take as a transfer etc....

Vol - gonna follow his heart.

Technically Bailey will be a true Fr again in ‘21 season. 2020 didn’t count against anyone.

Or am I wrong on that? Someone feel free to correct me if so.

that's correct, that's why i just labeled him a RS fr for 21....he's in his 2nd year of 5 to complete 4.

yeah, i can see that now...lol. it made sense in my head....

every player comes in with 5 years to play 4. every player that was on a roster got a "free" year of eligibility last season.

so i'm calling him a RS Fr for the sake of argument. in reality, HB and all the other freshmen from last year had 6 years to play 4, regardless if they would have met the RS qualifications or not for the 20 season.

Essentially, @MarcoVol is correct. this year is another "true" freshman season for that class.

i made that way too complicated. i see that now.

Competition is everywhere that he interested in.

Nobody redshirted last year.
Bama
5* Young is class of 2020
5* Milroe is class of 2021
Both are true freshman in 2021

Clemson
5* DJ Ug... class of 2020
True freshman STARTER in 2021

Tennessee
5* Bailey class of 2020
4* Salter class of 2021
Both True freshman in 2021

I don't think even Bama could pull of eligibility until 2028.................
