It looks like Coach JH tried to fill our vacant RB position with a young coach with southeast recruiting connections and with prior history of developing offensive skill players. I have heard a few names that turned us down. All fit this template. JH went after some who fit this template at large schools, but stayed with the template. Mack is a good fit and I think will prove to be an excellent hire.Yeah the whole argument that a rb coach should only be a recruiter cause rb coaches don't do anything else is a weird narrative. Seems like nfl teams wouldn't waste money on it then. There's a lot of coaching that makes good RBs. Pass pro is the most obvious, but understanding the footwork, knowing how to press the hole, set up blocks, when to use quick short steps instead of long strides, when to use jump cuts and when a slide step would work better, where to anticipate the hole, etc etc etc. There's tons of examples of RBs who had all the talent in the world fizzle out because of lack of good coaching.
Free...??It's amazing. How is this place for free.
Everyone talks about recruiting, but who at a major SEC program was a good coach but couldn’t win cause they couldn’t recruit. Will wait for a good example. Florida, Georgia, Bama, Barn, LSU, Tennessee. Name me a good coach who lost just cause he couldn’t recruit at a high enough level?
