I supported your stance on the Morgan debate...I’m a first amendment absolutist but the record label made business/financial decision. At the end of the day these for profit companies do what’s in their best interest for the almighty dollar.

Oddly enough, on the same label that dropped him. (so they ain't exactly hurting financially...dropping him may have increased sales actually)

I honestly don’t know the purpose of record labels anymore...with the internet you can market and promote your own music...you don’t need labels...probably make more money on your own now that you already have name recognition anyways.

If you got a good studio then I'd say you can "break out" on your own. The weird thing is the label Morgan's on is really nothing special, he's their biggest musician.

I mean I think the guy's a POS, but it's not from just the one video. He's apparently got a history of being a general jackass, especially when drunk (which happens often). Still I feel like it's kind of a weird thing for a label to do, considering how much music exist with that word itself being used.

I mean I understand suspending him bcuz of the backlash and not wanting to be associated with that. (they haven’t fully dropped him yet I don’t believe) I just think the amount of backlash it has received is a little ridiculous. It’s not like he went all Riley Cooper drunk at a bar. He said “P**** A** N***a” to a friend. Should he have said it? Absolutely not. Did he say it in a demeaning or racist manner? No. Context is important and too much stuff like this gets blown out of proportion imo

No one should use the N-word. The color of your skin doesn't matter. And before someone drops the boomer line, consider that it's continued usage in rap is why white kids don't understand why it's wrong to use the word. It's a word born of hate. If you want it to be left in the past, everyone needs to leave it in the past. Hell, saying one group of people can use the term while one cannot goes against the very definition of equality, which is what we're supposedly seeking.

And ftr, I love rap, especially the old NWA stuff, so this isn't me picking on a genre I don't like. But kids emulate what they hear. Most put little to no thought into what they say. And Morgan whoever may not be a kid, but I guarantee he put little thought into his words, especially if he was drunk off his ass.

If you want a better society, everyone needs to participate. Demanding change from one side only will not effect change. That just builds more resentment.

I think “exceptable” is a perfect word for this conversation because people on both sides of the argument can find ironic poignancy in it for their own separate reasons.
