Like I said, I think highly of you. And I have no problem with you disagreeing with my opinion. But when you refer to it as "stupid", you're crossing the line of being civil. I try to play nice with others. I'd appreciate the same consideration. We don't all have to think alike and agree on everything. But we can try to be respectful in how we disagree.

Upon further reflection...I apologize for using the word "stupid" in that post...and I really didn't mean for you to think I was calling you stupid, I don't think you are.

I just used the word that popped into my head first when I was writing that post, and I really wasn't just responding to you.

I’m an advocate of Artis getting a fair shot at the job with a relatively normal off-season before judgement. That being said, the HC gets to pick his own guy. Very vital choice that affects his watch on the program. You can’t allow the players to pick him for you...that’s how we ended up with Szerszen.

JH had no problem cutting all the other staff members once he was hired. I get that, but he has a need for the current S&C coach or he would have already been gone. I hope Artis gets to stay because he's obviously doing a good job with the players when their position coaches are not around. What is JH gonna do if the players don't respond to "his" guy. You can lead a horse to water but you can't make him drink.

Granted I'm not a read media good major or anything but I think I have a grasp of the calendar and a handle on the difference between facts and opinions.

My favorite part of this is Arnett supposedly interviews with Texas and USC....the narrative becomes Texas and usc decided on a different direction.... arnett got a raise and put out a little blurb about how much he loves Mississippi state..... same thing with brown and us but the narrative becomes brown turned us down and we will never get a decent DC to come here.

HC doesn’t let fear drive his decisions. He’ll take everything into account and make the decision he thinks is best for his program.

If a HC makes decisions with that process then we might as well fire up a new coaching search thread.

My point remains unchanged. IF Heupel wanted someone else he should get him. It’s too vital for his tenure to retain someone because of their popularity. Moot point since he’s staying.

I'll tell you this: VolQuest got wind of the Heupel hire because he called Lebby Tuesday night and asked him if he'd be interested in coming to Knoxville with him. Coaches are some of the most talkative, gossiping people you can imagine. Word gets around.

It's also why I think it's so funny Danny White wants to crack down on leaks from the inside - what comes from the inside isn't the whole beast.

I find it hilarious that “Silent Bob” believes he can control a starved fan base that is larger than the combination of his previous stops, and by a wide margin.

I don’t think he understands the behemoth he’s subtly mocking. We are rabid. We are starved to death. More than that, we are a loyal bunch that wants to see UT competing for championships. If he delivers on that through his hires, the need to implore fans to “behave” in a manner appeasing to his ego evaporates. His focus should be fundraising and instilling competence across all levels of the UTAD. If he cannot do that, no amount of positivity and Flex Seal will deliver on our expectations, and he will be miming tears in the unemployment line.

I am liking what I am seeing of Heupel as a person. He seems like a decent guy, even if he is a bit awkward and doesn't project that "Leader of Men" quality that some coaches have. If he can just establish trust and credibility with the players, that will go a long way.

There are no shortcuts...the climb back from the 70s was long and arduous...with many starts and stops.

Yes, and for the first time I feel like we have a plan to make that long hard climb instead of just hiring someone and hoping they will work out fast enough to keep the fans quiet.
