He said on the radio in Nashville that he wouldn't come to college for anything less than HC. And I don't blame him because most likely in the next 2-3 years he will have an NFL DC or, possibly, HC.
He’s ascending quickly in the NFL. In college he’s basically starting over.

a transfer would need a certain % of hours that are transferable toward their major to be eligible. That becomes tricky with some classes and it’s been rumored a number of our guys didn’t exactly get after it in the classroom
I gotcha. I didnt know what you were trying to say.

Agree. The leaks aren't what make us dysfunctional. We got 99 problems, but that ain't one
The leaks did supposedly cost us a coaching hire last time and may have other negative effects..... it’s best to keep the athletic department tightened and announce when ready.

Tony Elliott might be a great head coach one day. But he’s really no different than Pruitt when we hired him. No head coach experience, great coordinator that always has more talent, “great recruiter” at a school that has been in big games winning. Give me Heupel who has head coach experience and a long history of developing QB’s specifically.

I don’t think JH nor Elliott succeed here. I said form the beginning the second hire DW makes is the big one and I think Elliot would recruit way better and leave a better roster for the next coach
I agree. I think JH will recruit a lot of his players (long term projects) who are more fringe guys for other teams. I think the difference will be if he can develop them to reach above their suggested potential (aka Barnes development). If he can, I could see JH coaching here for a while and bring a lot of excitement and fun wins . If not I think he makes it just until we are past the NCAA issues. But who knows really, I thought the Pruitt/Chaney dynamic would get us back to the top but I was way off.

I don't equate decisions or coaching hires leaking with "dysfunction."

We haven't been bad for a decade because we know the inner workings - we've been bad for a decade because we hire bad coaches. That's dysfunction.
Think part of fixing the dysfunction is to be in control of the situation instead of reacting to the media and fans.....which after the last coaching search became a real turn off to candidates. We tend to take this seriously and react emotionally to everything the media slings at us. And the media loves to sling things at us. So don't feed the bears.

DW made a good point the other day on 104.5. These guys have players that get unsettled when leaks come out, and obviously it puts people in bad positions with their current employers as well. The professional thing to do is keep everything quiet and long term that discretion will attract higher profile coaches.

Our leaky AD is definitely a symptom of our dysfunction. As nice as it is to get info, I'd much rather have a professional organization that's got their shiz together and wins.

We needed that Heupel leak -- gave us time to process and accept before the announcement.
I don’t want him to worry about what we need.... he needs to just be working to create a winning program bc that is all that matters..... my kids are very heavy into sports..... I teach them about mental toughness all the time...it’s the number one skill that I feel an athlete must develop.... I think a lot of our fans need to improve their mental toughness.
