Sankey wouldn't have said a word. Simply because freeze would've brought more viewers and prestige to the sec... Strengthen the entire conference. Especially with him in the east.

Anxious to see the exact terms of the contract before passing any judgment, especially length and buyout clauses. Hopefully we left ourselves at least a respectable escape hatch just in case.

How would you know? You just registered a few months ago. The guy is pretty connected regardless of the coaching search. I'm sure his connections said they were aiming for a home run. They might even have been mislead by said home runs intermediaries. It happens. Can't fault them for trying even though it was a futile effort from the start. I think it's pitiful to call a guy out who's definitely a VFL when he didn't promise anything.

I've also seen him drop info about a recruit weeks before anyone else is in on it. I think he has connections, but as the saying goes, you have to question everything you hear and half of what you see.

When it comes to coaching searches, I don't think anyone can be really be trusted who isn't a national reporter. Most local reporters and website "insiders" tend to act pretty carelessly, don't try to validate their sources, and use questionable journalism ethics in order to generate clicks.

Respectively disagree. Don't know him but my limited observation tells me Atlanta Vol is legit.

What's striking to me regarding this (now concluded) coaching search is not until the night before the announcement did it start leaking. Makes me think Heupel was one of White's top (maybe top 3) choices from the beginning. Of all the coaches mentioned, aside from Freeze (was never going to happen) & Campbell I really like this hire. If we can score like Heupel' teams have done everywhere he's been we'll be in a lot of ball games this year, unlike last.

I'm hoping he keeps Steele ad DC/ CO DC and we get Garner on the DL. Regardless, I'm 100% behind coach Heupel.

GO VOLS!!!

Unproven though, he took someone else's team and won with it, can he build one? I am disappointed, I wanted a proven power 5 coach. We took a coach that won at CM and Cincy and it didn't translate. I think it is a reach. I will support him and hope he wins but if he doesn't UT may fall to the ranks of has beens and never BE in the elite again.

We have absolutely no idea of who shared the information that triggered the internal investigation, including whether they were inside our outside the Tennessee family. It is possible that a parent or mentor asked someone at UT, but outside the group that was fired, if they were aware some kid was getting money, their kid or another. If that is true the risk they would go to another program or the NCAA directly eliminated our choice of action. This is my SPECULATION of what we will learn when it all comes out.

I believe you will see that the terms are as poor as the search. I am just shocked to see Dan succumb to this pressure and the circumstances.

Thank Greg Sankey for these mediocre coaches. Lands big TV deals for these schools and they no longer have to worry about buts in the seats. Don't want to show up then don't. We still get the 35-50 million dollar TV check. UT Ad saving money in the overall scheme of things. They just don't need the fans anymore PERIOD. TV deals will only get bigger.
