Schiano was a pretty successful DC at OSU when we revolted against him. And he had been immensely successful at Rutgers. True he failed in the NFL, but so did Saban. I think the majority of those who didn't want him disliked his lack of being a decent human, not lack of coaching acumen.

I feel like Schiano was on thin ice at OSU when he left due to fielding poor defenses towards the end of his tenure there. Isn't that why they hired Leach's DC Grinch to come in and take over some of the defensive coaching duties before Schiano left for Rutgers? Am I remembering that right?

I've been on the Campbell train from the start and I thought it was ridiculous to think we could get Franklin from Pa State. Honestly though I'd be even more confident if it was Franklin. I think he would recruit with the best of the conference and as someone else noted his guys would show up to play. I've always considered the fact that he is trained in psychology to be one of his strong assets. I also think in short order he'd be able to compete with anyone in the conference, no exceptions. jmo.

He’s one of the top 10 football coaches in America. Made freaking VANDERBILT relevant & won 9 games there twice.

Took over a Penn State program that was absolutely torpedoed into the ground & has since won 11 games there on 3 separate occasions.

Multiple 9 win seasons at Vandy, 11 win seasons at PSU. Has a spread system. Just recruited Yurcich for OC. Last 2 RBs in the league were Barkley and Miles Sanders
