Harbough is 49-22 at Michigan. I'd take that in a heartbeat.

Frost/ Herman came from non P5 schools. Not exactly a big boy hire. If you want to take sh*t serious, replicate how A&M handled their last search.
If you want Harbaugh, we should just promote Steele and wait a year. Because, uhh... He's about to be avaliable.

I think the hate for Elliot is out of control. You can be hesitant that he isn't a head coach, but literally everything else about him screams that he would be a great hire and HC. In an ideal world, TN would be hiring literally whoever they wanted. We are not in an ideal world for UT, and I would venture to say we're at a lower point than ever aside from having a proven AD at the helm
The hate is fueled by the fact that he is not their first choice and they are going to throw baby fits about it.

SF...

Well, I’ve been able to bounce some questions off of my friend given there is a blend of legitimate leaks, and bogus ones among local journalists. It’s Franklin. It was Franklin Friday, Saturday, Sunday, Monday and today. They’ve believed it’s been wrapped up since Sunday night, but taking steps forward has stalled more than once. This is the only real offer that has been made. We did not offer Dykes, Fleck or anyone else. Based on past conversations, I still think Elliot is 2. I don’t know that as a fact. They had hoped to have a team meeting last night, then this morning. There is not currently anything on the schedule for this afternoon either. That doesn’t sound good if you like the idea of Franklin. That said, my friend says they’ve been agreed on general terms since Sunday. He has no idea why it hasn’t crossed the finish line. Everything he’s heard is that it’s Franklin, but nothing is moving in a way that indicates the normal next steps. It could just be slowly moving forward or coming off the rails. My friend says it’s Franklin until he hears otherwise.

Local sports radio here in SC say tony Elliott would be an idiot to take the tennessee job. He’d have better options open up if he waits it out, places he wouldn’t be destined to fail. They also said South Carolina will recover before tennessee does because we’re beyond fixing.

Using the word “recover” with SC is funny to me. They have been playing football since 1892 and have one conference championship in their history. That came in 1969. They barely have an all-time winning record. They aren’t trying to recover. They’re trying to break out of the cycle of mediocrity that has defined their entire history as a program. Ok though. Whatever.

Oh my god, shut up.

The latest Stoerner from coachery (so don't respond there unless you want FF stink on you):

So give me 2-3 “big boys” we should be going after. Jimbo is the exception and he has been lack luster until this year.
It's his 3rd year in a program he had to rebuild from a culture standpoint. He's won 8+ games every year he's been there. Bring some of that "lack luster" sauce to Knoxville.

The last 12 years of UT football is all the evidence you need. We could have hired a TE caliber coach every coaching search since PF was fired. Hell, we did with JP. None of them worked.

Big boy football programs hire big boy football coaches. We're not coming back till we make that happen.
mike shula, mike price, mike dubose, dennis franchione, jim macelwain, ron zook, mark richt, jim donnan, shane beamer, Dabo Swinney, Gene Chizik....lol...brian harsin...lol.....ed orgeron.....lol....brady hoke, clay helton, charlie strong, jim tressell, manny diaz, mike norvell, kevin sumlin...

point being....some of these guys have gone on to have great success, many others not so much. but none of them were "big boy" hires. but you're looking at guys that were hired at Alabama, MIami, FSU, MIchigan, OSU, clemson, Auburn, South Carolina, aTm, Texas, LSU, Georgia...in fact many of these guys when hired, completely turned off their respective fan bases...and many were guys you never heard of or thought they should be way down any list....some were good, some not.

there is no formula.

100% my feelings on the matter. Either that or lose your **** for a week over nothing and making the worst takes possible babbling about something you are absolutely not qualified to have a professional opinion about (NOT TALKING ABOUT YOU BASS)
Agree, but have to add that I was disappointed in Bass last night when the whole board seemed to be melting down over the ridiculous Sonny Dykes talk.
