I like seeing "is not a candidate" more than "has turned down the job"

As long as the media keeps the language that way I don't think we will look like a 2017 dumpster fire

I was thinking the same. Plus, usually announcements that “coach X was not ever interested” usually signals a selection has been made and those not chosen want to get their “I’m not interested” out before the official hire is made.

See the Gilbert and Ingram leaks right before White was announced.

Brady took a QB that was compared with JG the same season and turned him into a heisman trophy winner and the best offense maybe ever in college football. Tony Elliot (while good) had Deshaun Watson and TL....

Makes coaching and calling plays a lot easier. lol

How are they different. Brady has done nothing outside of having a great year at LsU with literally the best offensive football cast ever assembled in college football. Elliots resume and background is far more impressive than Brady’s and people would love Joe Brady. Maybe it’s a color issue???, 🤫🤫
There it is. At least you stopped walking around just saying it as usual.

I literally cannot keep up with the posting on this thread so sorry if others have made these points by the time this goes up.

If there is a "smokescreen" candidate out there being used to keep people talking while they chase a whale (and I'm not saying there is), it would have to be Tony Elliott. Too many sources right now pushing Elliott's name, he is a candidate that would seem to be someone we can definitely get if we want him, and he has the prior relationship with White from the UCF search that lazy writers can put together. I cannot figure out whether Elliott has an agent, he didn't when Auburn was searching but the article I saw said he was looking for one. If he has Jimmy Sexton, this has all the signs of a Sexton PR push.

That having been said, we could do a lot worse than Tony Elliott, and if White thinks he's the guy, then I'm on board. Put him with Steele as DC, bring in Rodney Garner and Kevin Simon, Auburn's behind the scenes recruiting coordinator, and keep Tee and Jay on offense, and that is a hell of a staff. Many have prior relationships with Elliot, know the territory for recruiting, and it is stocked with VFL's. How can you not get excited about that?

Campbell is my #1, and I do value HC experience, but if Elliott is our fallback, we are in good shape.

In my opinion, I feel this program needs someone who has showcased they can take a roster filled with pieces that don’t quite fit, and make lemons out of lemonade. This roster is not Clemson. It is not Alabama. It has a myriad of pieces that could potentially be something special but it’s going to require a guy who can squeeze every last drop out of them.

Elliot has been an impressive coordinator, but he is working with premiere talent that does not need the push that our roster needs. He might have a great scheme, but I question if that translates with the severe drop in talent he will experience the first 2-3 years here.

Maybe it will. Maybe it won’t. I’d prefer not to find out.

That’s not true anymore..

Sark now holds that title by .009 percent.
