To me everything is in tiers. If you can’t get a guy in the tier above then you move to the next.

Tier 1 -
Kiffin, Campbell, Fickell, Peterson, Fleck, Whittingham

Tier 2 -
Herman, Freeze (only due to perceived baggage), Chadwell, Napier, Elliot

Tier 3 -
Steele

Wasn't it SF that said we are swinging for a big time candidate with HC experience? And now we are worried about hiring an OC because SF put his name in an update?

This is a good point tho. If we hired joe Brady this place would go wild. They are virtually the same person.
Brady took a QB that was compared with JG the same season and turned him into a heisman trophy winner and the best offense maybe ever in college football. Tony Elliot (while good) had Deshaun Watson and TL....

There are proven head coaches and proven Offensive coordinators. Elliot is a proven OC. Maybe our new coach can persuade him to come as our OC.
In my opinion, Kiffin is not a good head coach. He's a great OC but his teams have terrible defenses. A great coach should not have terrible defenses. Someday, he may wake up and hire someone to run the defensive side of the ball but until he does that, he's just a great OC that happens to be the head man.

They are not the same person and you know it. Your criteria for making that statement is why it’s hard to take anything you say seriously.
How are they different. Brady has done nothing outside of having a great year at LsU with literally the best offensive football cast ever assembled in college football. Elliots resume and background is far more impressive than Brady’s and people would love Joe Brady. Maybe it’s a color issue???, 🤫🤫

What do you mean?

Campbell
Fleck
Fitzgerald
Elliot
Napier
Fickell
Leipold
Chadwell

Would all do fantastic here.

Campbell 95% success rate great culture builder may lose to NFL in the future but that means he’s done big, big things here
Fleck 85% culture builder kind of Butchy with the slogans so he may would have to adjust that some but high energy guy that would get people excited it think.
Fitzgerald 90% culture builder really love this guy and think he would do great things here.
Elliot 50% we don’t know anything about him as a leader of a team on his own. We’ve seen great coordinators do great but some massively fail.
Napier 70% built Louisiana into a consistent 10 win team
Fickell 90% see Campbell’s description lower because he did it in a lower conference. I do think he would be highly successful here though.
Leipold 70% see Napier’s description
Chadwell 65% I think he would be ok but you never know until you step into the deep waters. They beat BYU so there’s that but he would face the cream of the crop coaches and athletes every weekend.

I’m probably on a fair number of ignore lists here because of my posts about Jones and Pruitt fairly on in their tenures. Pruitt especially I felt was a fraud and firing him after his first game wouldn’t have been soon enough for me. That said, while Elliott would by no means be my first choice, I think he would have a better chance of success than our last three hires.

give me an example of anyone who has walked into a similar situation and brought any program back to a national contender....
Not as severe situations but Jimbo seems to be doing alright. Mullen too. Proven HC’s tend to turn things around at a much faster and more efficient rate.
