Jeff Fisher comments on interest in the UT job

You sure of that? A current high school senior would have been in kindergarten the last time Fisher coached a playoff game or even a team with a winning record.
He took his wildcard Titans and beat south champion, Peyton Manning led Colts in Indianapolis. That he made the Titans a perennial winner despite psycho owner meddling was quite an accomplishment. Adams made some shi**y 1st round picks

There are no current recruits who were even alive when that happened. It was so long ago that you've forgotten that the AFC South didn't even exist. The Colts had won the AFC East, and the Titans were a wildcard from the AFC Central.

Would Fisher be the top of your list if you were making the hire?

Good catch! Just making a point that Fisher was a pretty damn good coach

I’m sure as others have said Jeff is a nice guy but he is basically a .500 coach in the NFL. He has not coached in college and the last time he coached in the NFL was 2016. I would bet he is not even on the long list much less the short list.

He was an okay coach. He only made the playoffs six times in twenty full seasons (he was 1-5 in his first year as an interim and 4-9 the year he was fired). He finished one game shy of setting the NFL record for most losses by a head coach.

His single greatest gift was doing just well enough for a surprisingly long time to avoid being fired.

I still don’t think so. I would think that these recruits would know who he is by now. I’m sure they know who McNair was.

Current recruits were 3 to 4 years away from being born.
Yeah, but what I’m saying is, is that surely these guys knew who McNair was. These guys probably learned that Jeff Fisher won at Tennessee. They probably have seen the music miracle against Buffalo. There is other ex...

I'm kind of afraid that most current recruits know McNair more because of the news of his death as opposed to his play on the field. Certainly none of them can even remember watching him play live.

I mean, they might have seen the Miracle on highlight shows or YouTube. But for current 17 & 18 year olds that's going to feel as relevant as the Immaculate Reception.

That is true, but still I think that they would embrace Jeff on Rocky top.

Bama writer, would you strictly tell me why you don’t want him at Rocky top?
