The Reason Fulmer is Retiring

Very incorrect. The boosters are in complete control for the hire this time around as they have someone specific in mind, and today provides evidence that they're on the way to what they want. At this point it's up to the money, not the University, who the next coach will be.
Ok. . . it is not incorrect, but believe what you want.

Lack of offensive production is why Fulmer was essentially shown the door. With the fact that we continue to lose to our biggest rivals by huge deficits, I assure you the powers that be and that sit in the sky boxes would be excited to have Freeze update our scheme. If he's allowed to coach at liberty he's fine in Knoxville. He has paid his debt.

The boosters have spoken. And Fulmer not only had to go, but was forced to do so because he was unwilling to hire Hugh Freeze. And instead, he tried to hang on to Pruitt for as long as he could, relying on convincing them that Pruitt was the way forward for now. Once he wasn't going to be able to do so, it was over for him, just as much as it was for Pruitt.

Or he was playing gum shoe detective and was the one that ratted out the recruiting violations back in November. He's played that role before, but in the position of athletic director, he is also charged with monitoring, managing and creating a culture of regulatory compliance, not playing Gotcha. The six day widow from the credible report to written engagement of the Glazier law firm is somewhat concerning, Glazier looked at the situation and recognized the potential for lack of institutional control, requiring a comprehensive investigation, buttoning up all communications statements and the problems identified were much greater than anyone could imagine. Fulmer allowed to resign as a whistleblower, protected from immediate termination although he potentially exposed the university to catastrophic consequences.

Blonde Donde comes down hard on Pruitt, throwing him under the NCAA big bus as she knows the athletic reserve fund sits at $10 million +/-, she'll have to transfer $30-$40 million to the athletic budget this year just to break even, she doesn't have an extra $12 million to throw around on Pruitt, can't spank Fulmer if he's the whistle-blower.

We will see in the Pruitt lawsuit filed against the State and the university, get your popcorn ready.

Terrible way for the boosters to get Freeze if what you say is true. Slim to none chance on any University (much less TN) hiring a coach who was caught cheating after firing a coach for cheating.

The university would look real stupid in court hiring someone who was previously fired for recruiting violations, to replace someone who was fired for the same reason. Take this to the bank as much as think it would be a great choice, he WILL NOT be hired at Tennessee. Did you listen to the presser the university is about integrity, we are looking for saints.

Fulmer had to go because he‘s a football coach and not an AD. It’s a different skill set and I don’t think he was equipped to be an AD. Remember, he wasnt the best at managing his staff when he was the HC.

Erroneous. The two are unrelated.

Without posting any specific "insider" information as I've already gotten in trouble for doing so before, at this point in time, Hugh thinks he's going to have the job.

Ah yes. 3 years after staging a moral coup to prevent the hiring of Greg Schiano, we will fire Pruitt for cause based on recruiting violations and hire the most widely publicized cheater (cause he got caught) to replace him.

Yah. Makes perfect sense.

There have been head coaches fired in the past for cheating. Charlie Pell in 1984 is one example.

Yet TN's best AD ever was once a football coach. Hmmmmmmmmm!

What better way to redeem your reputation than to coach at a Christian School, which is what HF is doing at Liberty University. Anyone on this Board seen that campus?

It’s in Lynchburg, VA which is about 60 miles from Roanoke. It’s has a student population over 45k. Liberty has been in the news too w all the Falwell Jr scandal.

Fulmer was definitely forced to retire because he would get money. He’d lose money and “his legacy” if he was fired
