Bill Clark went 6-6 his first season at UAB back in 2014. The program was then shut down for two seasons. Since starting back up in 2017, Clark has gone 34-16 with 2 conference championships and 3 divisional titles. He has never had a losing record as a head coach. This also includes a 106-11 High School record and going 11-4 at Jackson State for 1 season.
May be a home run that just needs some time to reach the warning track.

First off, no idea on a timeline, how quickly Tennessee will move or how much the Vols will take their time with the athletic director search. But was told this evening that Tennessee had already contact Jon Gilbert on Monday. Maybe as early as Monday morning, in some capacity.

Obviously the Vols parted ways with football coach Jeremy Pruitt on Monday morning and, at the same time, it was reported that athletic director Phillip Fulmer would be stepping down so a new AD could hire the new football coach.

Gilbert was a pretty obvious name as a candidate for the Tennessee job. He’s been at East Carolina since 2018. Previously had a pretty long run at Tennessee, most recently working with Tennessee basketball as an associate athletic director. Rick Barnes was/is a big fan of Gilbert and didn’t want to see him go in 2018, when he got the opportunity at ECU. His son, Kent Gilbert, is a freshman walk-on guard with the Tennessee basketball program right now.

I’m still laughing at all the people that said “the writing is on the wall it’s pretty obvious Pruitt isn’t being fired”

But can you at least see why it wasn’t making sense?

My thinking was.... when Hugh Freeze cheated - he landed some big time cruits almost out of nowhere. We basically whiffed on all our big time targets.

When we’re still landing only 6th-7th in the SEC recruiting classes, I never would’ve imagined any level 1 infractions. Let alone multiple.

I was fully on board with firing Pruitt post Texas A&M. Post history will show this. Then time went by.

And fake insiders like MIT Beaver coming out saying it was happening on this day. Then that day. Then this day. Then countless people coming out saying all sorts of detailed BS reports about warring factions and power struggles. One insider would say Fulmer fighting for Pruitt. Next insider saying Fulmer wasn’t involved.

It all felt very Gruden-eque.

And IMO it still makes no sense.

I think we are beyond stupid for burning our own house down to save a buy out.

Move should’ve been made post TAM and when it wasn’t, and more time went by, it all seemed like shenanigans. Especially when we’re signing a class, accepting transfers, interviewing coaches and hiring Steele (when VQ insisted was CJP’s doing) flying Pruitt around to convince kids to come back etc etc etc.

Okay. I will admit that is impressive.

However, he’s not Lane Kiffin. And because of that...
