His defense had Schuab on lockdown all day, but I guess he figures that if the Titans get move the chains Houston will use their remaining 2 TO's and their would be an additional play. Their most likely would have been 40 seconds left with a 25-30 yard field goal.
Fisher said that it was way out of Biromas' range. Take it for what it's worth.
Then he's even more of an idiot than I thought before. Bironas had already hit from 51 in the same game (and there were several yards to spare on that kick), and 2 years ago he hit from 60 yards in much worse conditions than the game today was being played in.
Once again, I can vent about Ike. If he hadn't hit, we'd be 13-1 right now.
But in all seriousness, if Biromas tells the coach he can't hit it, you really can't attempt it. I would have went with a different playcall though.
maybe, but it was pretty cold that day, and he was kicking out of the mud/dirt area in what was left of the middle of the Titans field. There was much better footing on that new sod today in Houston.
Probably just a lame excuse for making that stupid call. It was 49-yards... not 55... the wind wasn't making that much of a difference.
Bironas was on the field ready to go as the cameras came back from commercial and then you saw the offense running onto the field. So, Bironas obviously thought he could hit it because he was on the field.
i had heard though that it had rained into reliant for a good part of that game, and that field is not designed to drain water...so that sod could not have been in great condition
maybe, but I didn't really notice any players having trouble with their footing during the game. were they going the same direction in the 4th as when he hit the 51 yarder earlier in the game? i can't remember. If so, then the decision is even more indefensible.
