The president of the united states said to an angry mob the we have to march on the Capitol and "we fight like hell and if you don't fight like hell, you're not going to have a country anymore"

Then those same people proceeded to storm the Capitol causing property damage and killing a police man in an overt attempt to stop the congress from certify the electoral college votes.

So yes, a coup attempt.

I get it, this sort of behavior has been normalized by trumpers, what happened last week is just another day in the bizzaro trump world of crazy. Many adults have chosen to reject your "oh well" attitude you've rationalized through online conspiracy's of stolen elections. The nuttiest part is that it was just a scant four years ago that these same loonies were suggesting that Obama would try a coup to stay in office.

The irony is that you've become what you accused the other side of while rationalizing that it's somehow justified to riot in the U.S. Capitol building.

If you look at my posts, I’ve not condoned or justified anything about the actions of those that stormed the Capitol..... I’ve questioned their intelligence and sanity..... but what happened wasn’t because of Trump.... he didn’t tell them to invade the Capitol..... those that did did so because they’re pissed off over all the BS that’s been going on over the last 12-15 years.
The clowns that invaded with their Big Gulps in their hands were far from a coup attempt

It was implied, through his speech and his rhetoric over the last four years. Especially to the low rent, mouth breathing crowd for which it was intended - it may as well have been a hand written invitation.

Many of his supporters have been radicalized and don't realize it, they simply see it is being patriotic without any semblance of an ability to self reflect.

These people stormed the U.S. Capitol and killed a policeman.

Go back and re-read that last sentence until it sinks in that it's kind of a big deal.

I wonder how many Taliban would acknowledge and admit that they've been radicalized?

For the Trump supporter, denialism is their defense mechanism. Their refusal to accept reality is simply them blocking awareness of external events because the reality is too much for them to handle.

I know it was a disgusting event.... the people that killed the cop will be caught soon. .... but calling it a coup is a bit of a stretch.... a riot? Yes.... coup attempt? Perhaps.... but it was lame as hell if so.... looked more like the opening of the gates at Disney World for some drunken crowd of Walmart shoppers

And he won't be the last. McConnell has released his trial balloon. I fully expect the walls to collapse in upon Trump in the next 24 hours.

I don't think you'll find anyone who'd agree that it had a chance in hell of the insurrection working. No one said these boneheads were good or even close to succeeding, but they tried.

Or maybe that guy with the zip cuffs climbing over the seats in the House chamber was on his way to a kinky gimp orgy and got sidetracked on the way there.
