Just my opinion but I suspect it was likely leaked for recruiting and transfer purposes. If you get Steele/Gardner you got a few guys that are willing to jump in.

According to some local media figures, Steele will act as the voice of calm to the current players, recruits and signees during the transition period and attempt to hold what we have together until the new staff is in place.
