I think Steele joins this staff this week in a non-coordiator role.

This is what Patrick Brown just put out. Steele close to joining staff in non coordinator role. So I take his possible hire during a supposed hiring freeze to mean that he is on staff regardless if HC and we probably have a pool of candidates who are all ok with him on staff.

I’d like to see someone from the Briles tree, but I’d say best guess is Chaney running Marrone’s system.

You say stability? Then Marrone isn’t the answer. He will jump ship at first NFL opportunity. Malzhan wants a break.

I think you only hire marrone if you have the assurance this is his last job. Seems like having fulmer as AD is a plus for having that prior relationship with him in that regard

I think it’s a no brainer that everyone is coming after Henry T. If he goes anywhere it’s likely Bama or Washington unless Tosh comes back to college and then where ever he goes becomes an option

If the rumor of Pruitt to bama end up happening you can bank on him going there if they are confident with the ncaa

So it looks to me like the investigation is centered around Pruitt and Neids, two Bama guys, who may have paid two recruits. Those two recruits signed with Georgia, which is run by a Bama guy.

Not too many dots to connect there. If we are the only ones who get tagged during this I will be pissed.

I think recruiting, like any sales job, is more feeling than anything substantial.

Lane Kiffin had done nothing here and landed Bryce Brown among others. Kirby Smart won 6 games at Georgia his first year but landed the #1 class in the country off of it. It's all salesmanship.

You get one year to do that while the program still has that new coach smell. After that, you’ve got to win some or at least show improvement. Just look at where recruiting was in June before things went into the toilet.

Right. I don't see what he does as per usual. We have talent on this team. We have 3 highly ranked Qb's on this roster, we have elite talent at receiver in Jones and Hyatt, we have elite running backs on this roster, and an OL that can be elite with proper coaching. We also have young talent on defense. There is talent on this roster. This isn't 2018.

Butch left us with little at O line, and JG at QB.

I realize that we want to hire a coach that will have us back to winning SEC titles in the next couple of years, but I don't believe that's going to be the case. I believe that whoever we hire is going to do a better job than Pruitt has done for sure, so maybe we should start there and work our way forward. We need to make a hire that unites everyone who has a say in what happens in the football program. I just wish I had a clue who that would be.

Since Kiffin we’ve farted around year after year getting further behind. The gap is too wide for us to close at this point. There’s no winning this league when Bama, UGA, and UF remain where they are.

We can hire someone safe to get us 8 or 9 wins a year, save some money, and be ready to hire an upgrade in about 5 years. Then hope that hire can get us to the 10 win club. The only way to do it now is the big hire that we won’t make anyway.

They could put him in a role like that and he could still keep collecting his buyout from auburn right? If so that's probably why they'd do that
