You come into a program with no continuity or vision and an AD who has no idea what they’re doing. There are a number of transfers and your school is potentially under scholarship reductions and a bowl ban. The roster has potential, but it will take a ton of development. You are recruiting against 10 of the best recruiting schools in the country. You have a fan base that expects more than you are capable of in three years unless you are a juggernaut coach (which he isn’t). It is a five year rebuild.
Agree with all this, I just want to know what you think the end goal should be in five years? Five years to bowl eligibility? Five years to 9 wins? Five years to SEC championship appearance?

I have no doubt the next two years are going to be ugly - and I think that no matter who the coach is, whether it be Pruitt, Marrone, Chadwell, whomever.

By Year 3 we should be able to see if the guy we've selected has "it." It's an intangible thing. It doesn't mean I expect to be competing for the East in that timeframe.

Latest from Bob on 247...

I think if everyone takes a deep breath and thinks again about what happened this year, along with what could possibly happen next season if JP stays, this scenario seems not perfect, but certainly an improvement with stability... I want Freeze or Kiffin personally, but I also want solid, stable coaching that develops talent and isn't afraid to shake it up in offense... Give this scenario the minimum contract length in order to get them here, and I think most will feel a lot better about this fall...

Can Marrone bring Jay Gruden with him?

Is Jay Gruden even a good OC?

Would having two NFL HCs on the coaching staff move the needle for us in recruiting?

He is a good OC. He had an undrafted rookie go well over 1,000yds and someone put up points with Minshew/Luton/Glennon as his QBs in first yr coaching them. I guess it depends on if he has interest in college game. There were some rumors in past that he did when all the Jon rumors happened people said Jay was the more likely guy to consider the jump than Jon. I don’t see him leaving NFL though.

I don't exactly know what everyone means by stable..

Pruitt could achieve stability at 8-4 if you give him enough time. There is zero doubt in my mind about that. He was one win away last season. Is that really what you guys want?

And whether you like it or not, Pruitt's network of coaches that were willing to work with him were much higher caliber than Chadwell. Pruitt has worked in elite programs with elite coaches his entire career. Chadwell hasn't sniffed the Power 5.

Chadwell would have to accept the fact he would have to hire coaches he's never worked with or never met to come here. That is simply stating the obvious.

Either he admits that, in which case it isn't "forcing coaches on him" technically, or he doesn't and you hard pass.
Will Friend.....

IF Chadwell gets this job. He’ll get to pick his own staff, I’m sure there will be suggestions from Fulmer and whatnot, but nothing forcing a guy on him. Whether yOu LiKe It Or NoT.

Some idiot sc fan saw it on FB and ran with it. Very doubtful he goes anywhere.

I wouldn’t be so confident. Very tight family that loved Pruitt. Then you got dumbass fans laughing at his best friends decision to go pro. Now Beamer has his sights set on not letting the little brother out of the state and has impressed the family. I wouldn’t count any move of any player out with new rules

Exactly how in the hell is hiring boring dead career dudes like that "Safe"? It is not safe, it is program suicide.
It isn't program suicide. You need to calm down, McGill. I'm not wanting to hire Marrone, but the guy has experience. He isn't going to come here and be Pruitt. He knows how to coach. Again, he took Jax to the AFC title game. On top of that, it seems likely that Steel and Garner are on his staff. That's two SEC coaches with experience coaching and recruiting at a high level in this league. Marrone also coached under Payton, he knows what a good offense looks like. He probably brings in a top notch OC. Can he recruit? Not sure. We know Garner can. I think he's a safe hire. Does he win championships? Idk. Does he go 4-8? Not imo. I think he's a stabilizing hire that might bridge us to the next guy.

Again, I'm not sure I want him, but if our options are he and Chadwell, and that appears to be the case, he's the safer of the two. Might not have as high of a ceiling, but I guarantee you he has a higher floor. Chadwell might get up here and get eaten alive in this league. I'm not sure.
