I disagree..... I would love to have him sit down and show how to attack SEC defenses but it would be nice to be one of the innovative teams for once.I don't get Tennessee AD.
Tennessee recruits good enough that we don't need to run an offense like Chadwell's.
The only thing Tennessee needs to do is hire a good coach. Butch showed that you can win at Tennessee. If butch was a little better of a game day coach, Tennessee would have had some really good seasons under him.
Dooley was a losing coach before coming to Tennessee. Lane was inexperienced. Pruitt had ZERO experience.
Butch is the ONLY winning head coach Tennessee has hired since PF left. Let that sink in.
YES!!!! This guy knows his stuff. He beat the brakes off of Georgia State. same team that beat us. Also beat a BYU team that beat us in Neyland. The most important aspect here is he is overperforming with lesser talent. That is a COACH.I disagree..... I wish we could retire the phrase “do much worse.” I know we CAN! Don’t need to throw down the gauntlet.Steele's career scoring defense rankings were:
2009 - 25th
2010 - 13th
2011 - 81st
2015 - 32nd
2016 - 7th
2017 - 12th
2018 - 14th
2019 - 17th
2020 - 39th
We could do much worse.
Edit to say that this is a reason to bring him as DC - definitely NOT HC. Pass on him as HC, absolutely take him as DC.
Bailey wouldnt fit his offense at all due to the fact a mobile QB is needed to make this truly work. Yes Bailey has ran it a few times this season but look at his current QB. Rushed 111 times this season for 569yds and 7tds. Bailey isnt doing that.If Chadwell is a really good coach, he can make Bailey or Salter, a Vols legend, Hooker should be Plan C or D
Great coaches adjust to their personnel, that's what doomed Butch, he couldn't do thatBailey wouldnt fit his offense at all due to the fact a mobile QB is needed to make this truly work. The way the football program is right now, I don't want to see this job ruin a good young coach. I still think Freeze or Gus (I know you don't like him McGill) needs to be the next hire, because those 2 guys would know what they're getting into by coming here. FREEZE IS THE MOST OBVIOUS CHOICE but if UT is going for Chadwell, then he better win quickly or have really thick skin. The fan base is never going to wait 3 to 5 years for results again. Tennessee has got to get it right this time. This is my concern. Can he handle the massive work load this job requires? Its a gigantic step up from where hes coached. If he hires the right support staff around him im sure he will do fine.
i disagree about having to win now if he comes in. It’s a rebuild. As long as he shows progress and development we will be patientThe way the football program is right now, I don't want to see this job ruin a good young coach. To hear him talk about it..... he adjusts his offense around the players he has..... I don’t think it would be like butch where he trots out Worley trying to run the same offense as when we had dobbs.... I do prefer a mobile qb in any offense though.Bailey wouldnt fit his offense at all due to the fact a mobile QB is needed to make this truly work. There was enough talent this year between the sophomores and freshmen to field a competitive team. JP had some good young players and it shouldn't be a total rebuild this time. Hopefully the guys that stay are UT guys and not Pruitt guys and will buy into whatever Chadwell is selling (if he is the hire).i disagree about having to win now if he comes in. It’s a rebuild.
