Your right but if it comes down to Marrone and Chadwell give me Chadwell. Theyre both in the same boat IMO.
If they go for the figure head talker then hire Gus and let the assistants earn the checks.

I dont see Fisher or Marrone being the guy.

Wonder how many players on the current roster transfer if Pruitt is fired? How many would give Chadwell a chance? I'm guessing they would have no past connection with the guy as I doubt he ever recruited any of them.

I agree with Chadwell over Marrone, but I think that speaks more to the type of guys UT targets for football coaching searches. We kneecap ourselves from the very beginning. I don't think the admin gives a **** about winning.

I am not a Gus fan but giving the situation right now I would rather have an experienced coach than Chadwell right now. I believe Chadwell is going to be a good one but we are now looking at a huge rebuild and major problems.

Yep, and THAT is why we're looking at an up and comer. Jamey (if hired) is a great coach, but for his offense to work and his program to flourish, he'll have to let Fulmers advice go in one ear and out the other. If not, this will be 08 Clawfense 2.0.

Chadwell gives him all he wants in a game and everyone hates him. Chadwell Beat Napier this year who beat Campbell earlier in the year. He is also the coach of the year. He would die for this job and probably work harder than anyone. I am all for giving him a shot. I guarantee he will be better than the last few hires.

It wouldnt surprise me at all if they already had a lame duck short list ready to go once theyre done with Pruitt

The fact we are going to fire our coach should mitigate the infractions on the University.

And here’s an unpopular opinion I don’t think many are going to agree with me about: we’re going to hire a second tier coach. I have my eyes on Chadwell, but it could be Bill Clark, Lance Leipold, anyone really. I would argue a self-imposed bowl ban would actually help the new coach because that expectation would be waived for said new coach who might be in over their head in Year 1.

I hope we go second tier. I'd rather hire a guy with a high ceiling than a proven mediocre reject.

Dooley was also AD at LA Tech wasn't he? Didnt go so well, on the football field at least. Bill O'Brien is another failure of the "dictator" method

Thats the only way I think to spin this back in a positive direction after letting Pruitt go.
Have a guy ready to go that gets the fans excited again
But this is Tennessee we'll fire him, hire a search party, and hire X.

and then we wait.
