For the record, it does not have to be proven the head coach “directed” an assistant coach to break the rules. The only thing in his contract language is he can be fired for cause if he OR one of his assistants committed a Level I or Level II violation.
He can also be fired if he committed enough Level III to be the equivalent of a Level II.
To be fair, if the JG played every game like he played that one, we wouldn’t be in the current situation. Then again, that was 3 years ago, but if I recall, he played prettt well.
Napier I guess is my pick. They don't have the balls to go after the guys I want. Our admin doesn't care about winning like Bama and A&M...so we are doomed to either guys like Napier, Chadwell and Clark and a few other good small program coaches with high upsides that I would understand giving a chance to, or boring, low ceiling rejects with proven serious flaws like Mehlzahn, Marrone and Fisher etc. that I am convinced will finish off our long running program suicide ritual.
Guys in the middle of those extremes for me are dudes like Hermehn and O'Brien. I have extreme reservations about both for different reasons, but I wouldn't be totally out on them due to a few intriguing qualities they have...of these two my pick would probably be O'Brien simply because I saw him perform a miracle at Penn State...and we need a miracle.(This is not an endorsement of BO'B, I don't really want the guy at UT)
So...you'd take proven failures that doomed to mediocrity over rolling the dice on a guy with a high ceiling that you don't know what will happen?
I am for keeping on rolling the dice on the good coaches from small programs until we get lucky over hiring boring proven failure rejects that will give us no hope for anything but mediocrity and probably take us no where but down.
Kiffin was the third domino after hiring Hamilton and firing Phil. That third domino is what really triggered our downward spiral. You think we would rehire Kiffin? I certainly do not. I may have buried my hard feelings, but I understand a lot of people have not. He screwed us over leaving the way he did. Some people may never forgive.
You think we would take a chance on Freeze in the middle of a NCAA investigation? I certainly do not. His NCAA past violations get in the way.
Now, you can disagree with those assessments if you want, but to do so is to ignore the logic of our current situation.
As far as choosing between Gus and Napier, I guess that really is a matter of opinion, but I like Napier a lot more than I do Gus.
Yes, I do!! My cousins and me watched Wrestling every time it was on in the 1970s. Then, of course, we would some of those stunts ourselves. There was one time I tried to suplex my cousin and we both fell, rek'd ourselves completely, and somehow managed to nadshot each other at the same time. That was the last time we tried to do the suplex. All these guys used to work out at Paschal’s Health Spa in Western Plaza. Memories.....good group of guys.
Remember Big Jim Hess??
Napier is who I want not named Campbell or Freeze. The guy can coach and recruitLet me be clear. I dont want Marrone, I don't Want Gus, I don't want Chadwell, I don't want Napier.
I guess I should have been a little more direct. I hate that we even have to choose from that list but its gonna be someone off that list or similar to it....Instead of swallowing our pride and going after Kiffin. Give him plenty of money for a defensive staff and let's ride.
