My question is if the AD is cheap on hires, don’t they understand a healthy program that is winning more games would bring in more revenue?

That’s too much common sense. I mrs. think about it. Let’s say TN was actually serious about fielding a truly elite football program. This is hypothetical so bear with me.

Let’s just say they offered Urban Meyer $10 million a year on a 4 year contract. And you have him pretty much a blank check to hire assistants. Now say that total bill ends up being $50 million for that ; years.

That’s chump change compared to the insane amounts of revenue that would be generated if TN was elite. Hell we have sucked for well over a decade and still bring in revenue. It’s just a simple fact that the big power people either cannot or more than likely don’t want to accept.

I’d be willing to wager a small amount that we’ll see some of his plays mixed into play calls next season in the SEC.

I agree. My concern with Chadwell would be about his recruiting, defense and ability to lead a program this big. His offensive philosophy is sound and shown to be dynamic. Creative with timeles qualities. Coaches everywhere will steal from him this offseason.

Option football is not outdated. RPO's were an expansion of the option concepts and have changed college football. Announcers calling Coastal games thought some of their most interesting designs were busted plays. They weren't.

Football is cyclical. You don't want to be years behind. You want to be ahead.

I don't know if Chadwell would be successful. But I would love to have a play caller that keeps evolving and pulling from the past and creating something new like that. Very cool. Kept defenses on their toes all year. We haven't had a coach that did that since Kiffin or Cutcliffe was here.

The spread was a new system being run by finesse offenses, SEC coaches didn't like it until they learned they could be physical with it. Chadwells offense is a gimmick, we might as well hire Monken if he's the choicd
What exactly about it is a gimmick? He runs triple option which has been around since football started and he mixes in the spread/RPO. Depending on who he plays he does one more than the other. On top of that, he plays a to the strength of what his team is good at at the time. Again, please explain why you think it’s a gimmick. I’ve posted several several videos of why it works and the only rebuttal you have is, Micky Mouse....

Nailed it. It’s a no brainer. The guy is showing everyone that you can play old school football and new school together. Triple option/spread/RPO.

100%
I know the Barnes comparison is being played out, but build this program by developing the Grant, Admirals, and Bones of the world and the Keon’s and Springers will follow
I agree..... that is how Clemson built their team as well..... the problem is that no one has the patience for that.

Right and that's the part that triple option coaches wouldn't budge on in the past. Most ran 5 plays tops and ran them no matter the situation. Only passed when they had to. The game passed these coaches by.

That's not what Chadwell does at all.

Its predicated on the QB run, which that in itself is dumb laying your QB out to take un needed hits. His offense will be easy for SEC DC's to shut down. Most teams in conference especially the ones we went to beat to get to Atlanta are either going to have the DT's to take advantage of his O line splits or are going to have the speed at backer/safety to not give up the edge. His passing offense is also extremely limited to mostly underneath stuff and crossers. His passing offense is not explosive enough to keep SEC DC's from playing downhill and stopping the run game.
