Pruitt was a bridge hire. Bring him in, give him what he needs and, at least, he'll stabilize the program and build a roster for the next guy, they thought. Repeating a failed strategy probably isn't the way to go.

We don't need bridge hires. We need get it done guys.
I agree, but that isn't whats going to happen at this point. The next poor future hated ex-coach schlub isn't even going to be a bridge...he is going to be a downward ramp.

They have made a good outcome almost impossible.

Would take Fisher over Marrone and Gase in a heartbeat. Would want to know who his OC/DC would be and how he would staff it for recruiting. Jay and possibly Tee could be really important for that. We are at that stage of having to take somebody that wants to be here that has the ability to deliver 8-4 consistently while the program is rebuilt. As it stands this is a 2-4 win per season program. The real fall out is worsening daily as is public perception.
Having lived around Nashville during Fisher's entire tenure with the Oilers, the concern I would have is his reluctance/inability to change. The offense and defense concepts he started with remain the same during his tenure. He only had SIX winning seasons out of his 16 seasons with the Oilers and NO winning seasons with the Rams. He knows how to play the media and puts on a good front. Just remember he drafted Kevin Dyson instead of Randy Moss... He might stabilize the program but don't think he would achieve much above a .500 record. JMO.

He wants to run the football program without interference or input from the athletic department or boosters.

He wants a beefed up support staff (which we’ve already given Pruitt.)

He wants everyone rowing in the same direction.

We are not a fit with this.

If we commit to any proven HC, we should do everything in our power to make the first item happen. Ridiculous if not.

Fisher is intriguing. I thought Herm Edwards would not work in college, but IMO Fisher would be much better than Edwards. Fisher would have good connections in Nashville
A lot of people laughed at Pete Carroll being hired at USC as well after his stint with the Patriots and that turned out pretty good. Fisher would lock down Tennessee recruits though and he instantly brings credibility to the position and university. The guy was on the NFL rules committee. Don’t think he’d be doing anything wrong.

He would for sure have to bring in innovation on the offensive side though. He was pretty stubborn on offense during his time with the Titans.

I'm sure you were solidly in Currie's corner when he went rogue and flew all over the country, in his Kansas State buddies plane, with his phone turned off, offering the job to anyone who would listen.
Nope. Not at all. But he did a lot of good here that doesn’t get talked about. What’s Fulmer done? Hired our worst coach ever. And was going to let Barnes leave.

Nor should he. I consider him in the “unproven” camp and would absolutely have no right to make anything close to those type of demands.

Still wouldn’t take him for $2M though.
So let’s keep hiring guys every 3-5 years to do the job but let’s not allow them to do that job

Man just imagine if we would’ve went just 6-4. Recruiting would’ve finished top 10, this investigation is handled internally and only thing resulting from it is self imposed sanctions. Jammie Robinson, Airk Gilbert and who knows would be Vols. Would’ve been so much excitement for the 21 season... oh well.

Same reason I hate the idea of Marrone or Gus.

Boring Boring Boring..

For months people have screaming on here about boring outdated uncreative offense, but we are going to hire a guy that will probably install another boring uncreative outdated offense..

I agree with people on that, we need someone that can put a great offense on the field, and put a relatively good defense out there too.

It doesn't matter what I think though, they will jerk around for another month and end up hiring another garbage bin hire...and on and on and on we go..😔

I think Fisher could adapt if he really has been studying the SEC. And Bailey would stay and be prepared for the NFL. I think Fisher would be the CEO type we need and could bring in good coordinators. Keep Jay Graham and Tee for recruiting and have a guy like Eddie George as an analyst.

His OC hire would be the key but we would not be an undeveloped disaster like most of the past decade.

I believe he would smart enough to hire someone innovative on offense.

We would've landed Gilbert for sure if this wasn't happening.

As stated, he might not have had control over those personnel decisions. And everyone in the NFL ran similar concepts until recently. The Oilers and Rams had terrible players when he was there.

He is well known in TN and would be a big name hire. Recruits would listen.

" So son I hear your a dual threat quarterback? I had a real good one . Have you ever heard of Air Mcnair?"

Not many 16-18 year olds would even know who fisher is and his personality is genuine but far from the BSer type that is needed to recruit.

Hey guys send some prayers to my family. My Grandmother is in her final days from a battle with cancer. Hospice has said she is probably gonna pass in the next few days. About to head up to Knoxville now to hopefully get to see her before she passes.
Just lost my mother in law to cancer in August. I do hope you get to see her. Safe travels and may God bless you and your family.
