He’s knocking down 4.7 mill a year. Good for fourth highest in the country. He is not the fourth best coach in the country. Not sure he’s even top ten.
Name 10 coaches that are objectively better than Barnes. Now give me at least one of those that would have left their jobs to come to Tennessee.

I’ll wait.

As a former coach he probably just enjoys the experience. If he doesn’t inject himself in the game plans I don’t see a problem with it.

Edit: Didn’t people state that Fulmer would be perfect to guide and help Pruitt early since it was his first HC job. Now all you here about Fulmer is he shouldn’t be meddling in Pruitt’s management of the program.
I think we made a big mistake hiring Fulmer as AD. I appreciate all he has done for UT, but I was against his hiring. I know some thought he would be a good mentor for Pruitt, but I had my doubts. I will alway hope that Vol coaches and teams succeed and I desperately want this to turn around. I want Fulmer and Pruitt to win, but again I have my doubts.

Tennessee Athletics is like that uncle that everyone knows has enough money to buy a quality vehicle, but he insists on getting 300,000 miles out a car before he lets go of it. Duck tape... coat hangers... whatever it takes to keep her rolling a few miles down the road
91 Nissan pickup 250k miles on it.....yes i am that uncle

No one had a problem with Pruitt being extended before the season. Especially coming off a six game win streak and closing off a strong recruiting class. He was not willing to let Barnes go. Fulmer wanted to keep Barnes, and worked with Boyd to make sure Rick got what he wanted. The Covid salary cutbacks is nit picky on your part. Given the situation he inherited when he took over, no one was going to take this job who was reputable after that tire fire of a coaching search than Currie conducted. Just about everyone on this board and throughout the country thought Fulmer nailed the hire given the hand he was dealt.
Many people thought the extension was absurdly stupid with no purpose (can't wait 3 months?). Not that it matters. It was stupid regardless.

And yes plenty of people thought 3 DCs was a terrible pool choice, but most importantly it tells us how far behind in football he is. He is NOT understanding modern football, very clearly.

Bury your head in the sand if you like. Most without logic or reason on their side do.

Ya’ll act like you’re the ones funding this mans pockets. We’re a top 10 program right now. I can promise you whoever Fulmer would have replaced him with wouldn’t have us in the position we’re in right now.
Pretty sure Casey Alexander was in line to take over for Rick had he left for UCLA. I like Rick, and he’s a fine basketball coach. That doesn’t mean he’s worth the money he’s being paid. Three different coaches have led UT to a Sweet 16 over the past 15 years. That speaks to the kind of job this is. Lots of guys can win here.

I truly don't understand so many of you hating on Tee Martin. You can say you don't think he is what we need at head coach without being an assmunch about it. He was a leader on our last National championship team. We are much better off with having him be a part of our program than we would have been had he gone elsewhere. Some of you are morons.

What does he bring to the coaching staff exactly?

I see. So ol Phil Fulmer, a hall of fame football coach, doesn’t understand modern football. And I guess you do. So Devo182 thinks Phil Fulmer doesn’t understand modern football, so I guess that is that. Some of the things that are said on this board are asinine.

Its not far fetched to say that the game can pass some people by

No, he interviewed Tucker, Pruitt and Steele. Not a solid hire. I support the HC at Tennessee because I am a Vol alum. None of those guys was a home run. Pruitt has been up and down, but please do not pretend everyone thought this was a great hire.
We were relieved it wasn't worse considering the circumstances and hoping it would workout but disappointed after the AD assured us they were going to make a great hire.

I have no problem with him being on staff, I just don't see him ready to be a head coach. I'm not hating on him, but just because he won a national championship here, does not make him ready to be a head coach.
